rectal cancer 2008 chemo/radio.7yrs later sudden bleeding &mucous ,had 3 purastat treatments at Wythenshawe hospital.Bleeding stopped.Had tried hyperbaric no good. Also got stoma so diet won't make any diff. Radio destroys healthy tissue hence discharge. Seems to be no treatment but removal of rectum.Major op. All articles you read about PRD never consider the different scenario if you have stoma.Diet advice is useless because nothing gets further than the cut off. Good luck everyone and if you hear of a cure please let me know! Just got to get on with it. At least still alive after 14 yes due to amazing doctors.

really interesting to read - I had anal cancer in 2007, fine u til about 4 years ago, then mucus, mild bowel incontinence. Slowly getting more of a problem. Been told I was lucky not to have problems earlier. Take Imodium every couple of days to slow things down.
I’m almost three years post diagnosis of anal cancer and 2 and a half years post radio/chemotherapy. I had mucus and very mild incontinence problems for about six months after treatment end but thankfully it cleared up. I think the lesson for me is that if it starts again to have it investigated immediately rather than wait and hope it sorts itself out. The late onset problems for me have been urinary tract issues and fatigue
