Hi carola_100 Welcome to the group ☺️

There are lots of lovely people on here who had treatment for anal cancer though I myself didn’t have treatment for anal cancer but with PRD. Long-term side effects can be very similar to other pelvic cancers (I had cervical cancer).

I have had numerous complications following treatment. Is there any particular

treatment effects you would like to talk about?

I just wanted to say you are not alone and you are amongst people who understand 🧡

You may want to edit your original post/title to get more specific responses. (you can do this by clicking the ‘more’ option at the bottom of your post I have taken a screen shot if this helps).

Hi Carola. Sorry to hear about your issues and can relate to you. I had Chemo radiation and localised surgery for anal cancer in 2004. I suffered from very bad radiation burns and it has left me with very delicate skin. I am fortunate not to have a stoma but I do have a relaxed sphincter and therefore suffer from faecal incontinence which in its turn causes periods of very sore skin. For me the best treatment is Vaseline which seems to sooth and acts as a barrier. I am so grateful for the treatment that has given me 18 years but sadly it does come with long term side effects. I’m sure you will find this group very informative and supportive.

Hi HappyretiredI had treatment for rectal c so lots of same issues. Tip about Caseline is really useful, I'll try it. My skin is v sore too and agony going to the loo, splitting, bleeding etc, ouch. Hadn't thought of Vaseline, so thanks. I find a cream from a medical herbalist including Calendula is soothing.
