I needed to have a hernia operation 3 months before my pelvic RT, not afterwards. My previous surgery had left me with 6 small scars scattered about and a weakness developed between 2 of them - next to my navel. I was told it would be more difficult to have the repair done after RT as bleeding and healing would be more of a problem. As it is, my hernia scar is much darker than the others in my collection, presumably because it was still healing when I was treated. Speaking as a layperson here, and as repair after RT would only involve a shallow procedure, the slightly higher risks involved should be easily manageable if a repair is medically needed. Best wishes

I have a hiatal (sliding) hernia which was discovered after an endoscopy. I have had reflux problems ever since my pelvic radiation treatment over 30 years ago.

yes, a small inguanal hernia. i don't do anything about it. but i was told it could cause digestive problems if a loop of bowel got caught in it.
