I was taught pelvic floor exercises; It took a while for me to master them but eventually made some progress. It's good knowing I've got more control 'down there' now which has helped me generally feel more confident. And that reminds me - must keep my exercises up😊

Who referred you? GP or Consultant. Assume it would have to be a specialist Physio or are they the generic pelvic floor exercises you can get online?

I was taught pelvic floor exercises by an NHS continence nurse in 2017. She explained how to do them and also gave me a leaflet. I've seen so many health professionals over the past 4+ years I'm not sure who referred me but it was probably my GP. I believe it's possible for anyone to self refer to their local continence service. Because I have multiple problems 'down there' the continence nurse subsequently referred me to a women's health physiotherapist who was very knowledgeable about the functioning of the pelvic floor. I'd think a GP could refer to such a physio.

I was referred by a consultant but nothing happened. So now I've found a local physio who may be able to help. I'm going to pay for a consultation anyway so at least I'll have something to work with while waiting on NHS. Leaflets are okay but they don't deal with individual issues where different exercises might be needed. Hopefully I'll find something that improves my situation. Thank you for your support.

I'd agree that the best way is one to one support. The leaflet is useful as an aide memoire. I hope you manage to get the help you need soon.
