Good luck with your search hottchoc. Lovely to hear of someone who wants to adopt not one, but two. Don't forget to try your local animal shelters, and most of all, don't forget to tell us all about them when you finally find your new family members!๐Ÿ˜ธ

Unbelievably out of the 5 animal shelters we contacted by email - NONE replied! So I rang one out of interest and they said we have hundreds of familyโ€™s wanting pets so no time for emailing back!

I had trouble getting a cat 7 years ago we ended up buying one from a breeder Bengal cross pixie not the average cat very high maintainace bit fiesty to say the least apparently there's also certain times that cats actually have kittens it's not as easy as people think and i know prices shot up spaniels were from 5oo now upto 3ooo, I think when people go back to work and Holliday the shelters will be full xx

There used to be adds on charity shop windows photos of unwanted pets owners had died or couldn't manage or found strays in the pet charity shops there opening now ๐Ÿ˜บ

That's incredible hottchoc and must be the pandemic effect. I hope that all those people who have rehomed cats whilst in lockdown won't lose interest afterwards and abandon them. (Or maybe it could be in your favour if they are returned to shelters!) One other thing is that many kittens are born at this time of the year, so it might be worth looking on sites like gumtree which have pet sections, but do watch out for scammers if you decide on that. (My daughter successfully got her British shorthair from that very website, so there are genuine users too). Good luck with your search!

Would Pixie be OK around another cat Mandy? I often regret not taking two kittens from the same litter for companionship for Kasar as now he wouldn't entertain the merest idea of another cat. He's more of a scaredy-cat than he'd ever admit to being. He'd also view another cat as a rival for food and our attention and would get even more grumpy than he is already! ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

Hi Mandy, yes I think that anyone who has a cat with Bengal in him has to be mindful of the fact that they aren't like other cats. They are very demanding, and, as you said, very feisty. When they do give love it's very much on their terms and Kasar can turn on a pin head with regard to his mood!

โ€ข in reply to

They are strange he wanted to go out so I opened bathroom window it can be same with door he will debate and if I push or say go he will often give me a that look you will know well and often a nip even tho he wants to go and will go when ready just not be Told to, sometimes he does as his told and is very intelligent sits begs for treat and doesn't steal off my plate now oh my g when he a kitten I had to worn the nebour who was eating his sandwhich I said pixies seen you he said oh heck I best keep quiet ๐Ÿ˜pixie used to grab it off my plate and out my hand,I had to put a huck on my kitchen sliding door he even almost learned to open mam's kitchen cuboard doors, I know someone who's sister has one he said she had to have special unit doors made that we're cat proof he said why would anyone go to the expense to accommodate a cat why indeed, mam often says as you know why don't you get rid and get a nice normal cat ๐Ÿ™„but I really love him๐Ÿ˜๐ŸงกI think hott choc when you see 2 beautiful Bengals advertised for free which I have seen one before you will say oh no way ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿฏ๐Ÿ†๐Ÿ˜บ

Hi. All my cats were rescue cats. I would say phone as many local cat charities as possible. Personally, I have always refused to have anything to do with pet breeders as they bring many animals into this world primarily to make money, or to breed a 'champion,' while there there are always unwanted animals who need good homes. I don't understand why people pay large amounts of money to breeders when there are so many animals waiting for homes in shelters. Just my opinion, but I feel strongly about it. I wish you all the best in finding your new companions. ๐Ÿ™‚๐ŸŒธ

I wonder if the cats protection people in London can help you with this, worth contacting them: cats.org.uk/

They are always looking to rehome cats.

โ€ข in reply to

Or possibly Battersea Dogs and Cats Home. They rehome to many areas of the country, but it does require a journey to the home.

โ€ข in reply to

yes that is an option too.

I have a friend in London who takes all the poorly cats that are terminally ill, she is very active with the organisation so I know what wonderful work they do and all the volunteers.

I used to have a neighbour who did home visits for them to people who wanted to adopt. My family adopted a feral kitten from them - many cat charities won't try and have feral cats adopted but Cats' Protection do, they were wonderful. ๐Ÿ™‚๐ŸŒธ

โ€ข in reply toMarnie22

Yes that's wonderful, my friend rescued a new litter of kittens from a ferral cat, the kittens went to the Cats Protection and the mother cat eventually befriended so the mother now knows and trusts where to get food.

Just shows how things vary depending on where you are! Oldwomaninpain is posting about stray kittens, and you are wanting cats! I am with Marnie on the rehoming front, and I am sure you will find some at some stage. My daughter adopted a stray from Croatia a few years back, which was brought over by a charity she found on the web. She (the cat!) came fully innoculated, spayed etc. Maybe actually visit the rehoming centres? Best of luck xxIf the worst comes to the worst, you could visit Oldwomaninpain for a holiday in Spain in a couple of months!! xx

Hi hottchoc. Have you tried Little Valley Animal Shelter (RSPCA) in Exeter. I got their info from the internet? If they don't have any they may be able to point you in the right direction.
