Beautiful particularly like the beak and the way the heads turned I'll start painting when if ever I feel settled π€ππ
Please share when you do!!!
Lovely drawing Wallowa, striking colours. Are the females black with no colour?
Thanks! Actually, they are sort of bland brown streaked -so they can hide in the grass. As it happens, yes, I have a drawing! And here SHE is!
Thank you, itβs a lovely drawing. I would think the males would have trouble blending in if they tried to hide in the grass. So being bland has its benefits.π
The red wing patches are how they dominate each other (the males, I mean). One researcher blacked out the patches one season and the "not red" redwings got pushed to the bottom of the territory pile.
Thatβs so interesting, so in theory if one had larger red patches it would be higher up the pecking order.
hi wallowa...
just love both drawings... so very nice...
media? looks like marker maybe ??
the red-wing looks like i felt all wkend... and now.... guarded... on guard... waiting 'for next shoe to drop'....
This is so good Wallowa. Are you still showing your sketches? xx
There's a festival (probably virtual) coming up soon, so I'm entering that.
Good for you, I hope it goes well for you. xx
thanks!
I second what Jerry has said. I hope today is better for you Wallowa.ππππΊπ΄π
It's better today. Thanks!
Great colour and cross-hatching. Makes him look very solid and as if he really does mean business guarding his territory!
Thanks!!!!!!
