I’ve gained. For some reason I found myself stocking up on cake, biscuits, chocolate, apple pies, jam roly poly. Got enough custard to feed the entire nation!

These are all things I don’t usually buy. I really don’t know why I got them, but, they didn’t take up storage room for long 😊

I’m starting my diet today. ( Said that yesterday, and the day before, and the day before that.)

And there is another anomaly. Even though I haven’t cut the calories yet, I keep weighing myself and I’m disappointed I haven’t lost anything! I’m even shocked to find I’m still gaining.

Hi Longsider,

I think the sort of exercise it's possible to take indoors depends on how much space is available to you and also a lot on your age and level of fitness. I don't think there are many of us who won't have put on at least a few pounds in lockdown, and I'd say just do the best you can to a), reduce snacking and overeating a little, and then b) keep moving in some way, again as best you can. I think there's going to have to be some kind of national program when this is all over to enable us to get back to some healthier eating and to be able to exercise properly. So many people are using food as a substitute for all kinds of feelings and lack of sociability and I'd say that right now, it's probably better to take care of your mental health and worry about the physical fitness later. At least you've acknowledged the problem, and that's half the battle! 😊

Thank goodness it’s not just me! It must be psychological because I’ve found myself buying more sweet stuff and I’m even baking now 😳. I’ve put half a stone on and can’t seem to stop nibbling . I decided to stop eating bread which lasted three days 😟 my chocolate stash has all but run out until my online shop which is coming tomorrow night. I’m down to my last 8 jelly babies 😩 life is hard but tasty 😋 at the moment.

The only exercise I’m getting at the moment is walking to the fridge or cupboards. 😘

😂😂 life is hard but tasty. Love it.

Well I think we just have to be a bit careful because it’s so much harder to lose weight than put it on but under these circumstances restricting yourself will probably make people want more. I had to restrict myself to baking one cake a week which I wouldn’t usually have. I suppose we’re all comfort eating. On that note....😬🍰 my theory is if I can’t lose weight I’ll just have to concentrate on getting taller! 😀

I’ve ordered a machine from Amazon that promises to stretch me to 10ft tall 😂🤣😂

I find myself a lot of its down to boredom and feeling fed up is what sets me off!

Helpful things I find is sitting down to read a book when I feel like that and the urge to eat goes away but if it doesn't then I will have a drink and then eat if I am still hungry then.

I usually have a pen in one hand painting and my other hand pushing stuff in my mouth 👄

Hi Callendersgal, I think the weather recently as helped being able to go in the garden 😁

No I have stayed more or less the same as I was before all this kicked off as I literally drag myself out of the flat for the daily exercise outside even when its raining and I'm fed up and go from there.

Indoor exercise there's plenty of videos on you tube to try out and there's bound to be one for you that you enjoy.

I have had times when I have eaten too many biscuits and it happens and isn't the end of the world!

What about buying a skipping rope. If possible 😊

in reply to Buddy34

I saw someone out in the park with a skipping rope on my daily walk the other day!

Lot of adults using them now😊

in reply to Buddy34

Its supposed to be good for you.

I used to do skipping at primary school and perhaps I could take it up again say when dangerous weather comes round again and its too dangerous for outdoor exercise.

🤗😘🧁

How's mia the cat getting on?

Baby is fine and still getting her usual Monday treat in spite of the lockdown!

Mia is loving the quietness of no visitors and of course lying in the sun by the window!

Hi there... Hope all is well... I can certainly feel the weight gain, but not sure if its extra cookies or the new medication! At least I have a good excuse, one or the other but will soon find out after lockdown is over!

Alas moving and burning what we’re eating is the only way! 🥺

I’m lucky in that I can garden and walk so here’s some ideas for those stuck inside:

Jog on the spot as fast as you can pumping arms whilst the kettle boils the next time you make a cuppa or walk lifting knees high if jogging is out. Remember to keep safe distance from the work tops!

Sitting in your chair reading? ... pause and place both hands firmly on the arms then do press-up action X 5, 10 you set the number.

Opening tins? Do 5, 10 etc curl ups with tin in hand palm facing up and bend at the elbow bringing tin slowly up to shoulder and down again X as many as you like... change hand and do the same again and then open your tin.

Getting up from chair... try not touch the chair with hands and use core strength plus legs to stand up. Now stood up? Stretch both arms wide with hands open, palms facing forward (crucifix position) and stretch as wide as you can pushing finger tips away from you... hold position and breath gently until your arms demand to be lowered.

I’m sure there are more ideas out there somewhere!

Good luck 😎

Every day I get out of my chair without using my legs... push on the arms of your chair and raise your knees as high as you can.

I do cheat rock-climber jump-and-pull-ups on a door frame.

I walk 5km most days.

I have lost over five stone - the last few pounds since lock-down... I did this through a Low-Carbohydrate, High-Fat (LCHF) diet and Intermittent Fasting (IF), See:

Hi no I have not gained weight but actually lost some, prob down to continuous pain who knows. Also I am eating less as less exercise means I don’t need as much. 😁

I am fortunate to have a city bike trail nearby, so when the lockdown closed my gym, I took to my bike. A 6 mile ride is my daily goal (not that far, at speed with a 10 speed bike, but enough to help), but sometimes events, weather included, prevent my attaining it. I am able to maintain social distancing.I hope you can use, and safe travels.

in reply to Girlinmy_soup

You must have known you were going to need a bike 🚴

Now I was sure the tumble dryer had shrunk the waist on my trousers. Funny because it hadn't affected the leg length. Do seem to be enjoying the time and the food lol. Plus 11 lbs. Do I take the trophy??
