Hi there, many people have found they have developed a sleeping problem during these strange times and it's not unusual when you aged full of anxiety. I have had insomnia for a couple of years and some of thee sleep apps can be useful so it's worth taking a look and there is a lot that are free. Hi there, Things always seems worse in the night, i tend to be up most nights. I can’t see the point of laying in bed when you can’t sleep. I usually get up and do a bit of painting or catch up on here.
With this site being worldwide there’s normally someone around 😊
I did a painting called I refuse to let fear overcome me, it’s on here somewhere. Fear is just a thought, our thoughts creates feelings which can be good and bad. You can teach yourself with practice not to allow your thoughts control your feelings. . I love doing meditations with Louise Hay she has lots on You Tube.
The other great thing about this lockdown is if I can’t sleep in the night when I eventually go back to bed I can sleep as long as I need because it’s not as if I’m going anywhere or anyone’s coming 😉

thank for the positive words I try not let get to me I never rang the samaritans in life before last week really got to me bad I was cleaning my kitchen early hours of the morning stood outside didn’t do anything she said just sleep when can don’t think just at night you can so right always some on here still getting used to it I am sure I get there👍😁

Yes, I’m awake in the early hours but I think it’s a combination of Covid worry and moving house next week stress. First time I’ve had to synchronise house sale and purchase, and book removals for a precise time slot. I have to keep away from removals people and I’ve bleached the house within an inch of its life.
I try sleep Hypnos on YouTube or something on BBC Sounds to get me back to sleep.

I understand completely; I too have recently moved, and the lockdown almost immediately afterwards has really put a crimp in the refurnishing! It's a small bungalow and virtually none of my furniture would fit, so I'm up to the eyeballs in flatpack stuff waiting for my son to assemble! Getting hold of a freezer is next to impossible, nearly everywhere has long waiting times, and some of the manufacturers are closed too! Oh well, Onwards and upwards!

I think anxiety can rob you of sleep. Either it's hard to get off to sleep, or you have a few hours and waken anxious.
I think you need to create a good sleep environment before and in bed to encourage sleep. Keep to as regular a bedtime as you can, and if you know you don't drop off before midnight, there's no sense in frustrating yourself by trying to sleep at 10pm. Stop all stimulant drinks early in the evening, so no tea or coffee or coca-cola. Have a warm milky drink if you can bear it, or even a Horlicks made with water. Perhaps a warm bath or shower and have a regular ritual for moisturising, hair brushing, tooth brushing, etc.
Once you are in bed, don't use social media or surf. But you could use an App like Calm, which is aimed at getting you off to sleep. Or some soft music. A few pages of a book is good, and better if that's a physical book rather than an e-book as there is evidence that staring at a screen robs you of sleep. Some people find TV helps lull them off. If it does, use it with a timer, so that it will go off if you drop off. Nothing worse than drifting off and a loud ad piercing your sleep.
If it's early wakening I find the best rule is the half hour one. I try to stay where I am, but if I don't get sleepy again, I get up after half an hour and do something. Sometimes that's me for the day, but oftentimes I can go back to sleep for an hour or two when I get sleepy again.
Lying awake worrying won't change our situation or take our worries away. So is there any point in focusing on what's troubling us? Especially when we are trying to get off to sleep. I hope this helps, and please have a good day today. Take care. 🙏
Thank you it’s does it just when I go to bed it like you got knots in Stomach they want to climb walls the house is too small for you and claustrophobic sometimes I step outside and that’s too big for me out there since it’s locked Down and it has got worse I am 47 and my life not turn out how I want it to I think this is upsetting me I got all my friends and family there now feel Abandoned I really feel at night being by myself
Hello. Sleeping has been a challenge for me too. I appreciate all of the comments and ideas. My challenge is waking up every 2-3 hours and ongoing hot flashes. I am a breast cancer survivor and chemo put me in menopause 4 years ago. I am finding that my daily 1.5 to 2.5 hour walks everyday are keeping me sane and help. 😊
I too have trouble sleeping. Very nervous and my sleep is always broken several times a night I try to stay calm but fifficult
I've experienced this since the pandemic, normally the soundest sleeper the roof could fall in on me and I'd never wake. This has all change me I find myself pacing at 3:30AM I clean and crank the heat in the house. My husband has finally understood this has changed my Type 1 blood sugar responses and I crash around that time and need to eat. He thought I was crazy and am but working hard on the relaxation angle which is working. Really not crazy just upset over everything going on with the pandemic practicing safe health care and food practices. We order all our food he washes everything before it comes in the house. I have not left the house only to sit on the porch once and listen to the great lake Erie. We will all come out of this and if this is hope the last 2 days I've slept until 6AM which has schocked us both very happily. Wishing you well.
I previously posted that I have boosted my natural sunshine mood lifting D3 capsule from 5,000 IU.'s to 10,000 I.U.'s. I also thought about purchasing a sun lamp. Rarely, when I can't sleep, and I am still awake for over an hour. I take (2) Melantonin capsules, and (2) Benadryls with a small glass of water. This gives me 7 hours, and 30 minutes rested sleep. Yessssss I am thanking God for Benadryl, and Melatonin capsules. You should call your Dr. to make sure there are no contraindications. Plus your Dr. may tell you to take less than what works for me. To lift my spirits I listen to dance music, and dance around like nobody's watching, and yesssss nobodies watching due to the Corona Virus precautions. I also pray, listen to church sermons, and listen to my Gospel music. I also workout in my house which increases my natural endorphins. I also watch funny video's, and movies. This next possible helpful thing you can do may sound strange, but my friend who suffers from Bipolar diagnosis told me when he is depressed he feels better, when he watches really sad movies/video's. He say's this helps him out of his depression. He told me that when he see's someone else is going through a more difficult time than he is, this pushes him to a better place. There are online therapist that are really helpful. I pray that these suggestions will give you joy. I do send you virtual hugs, from at least 6 feet away, actually miles away. XoXoX
