That looks beautiful. xx

That's so pretty! Glad you enjoyed your day. Any stiffness tomorrow will have been well worth it.

Thanks. You bet! Thoroughly enjoyed it. In Michigan you’d better take it when it comes. It’s supposed to be 25 to 30 degrees colder tomorrow!😭😭😭😥

Like you I love my garden but here in England my daffodils have gone over. What I'm enjoying are Devon primroses, - my OH is a Devonian - lunaria(honesty) and pulmonaria. As a little girl my grandfather wrote in my autograph album "one is nearer God's heart in a garden than anywhere else on earth".

Gillyflower18 profile image
Gillyflower18 in reply to prunus

I believe that sincerely. I have always been most aware of God in nature! Don’t you find lunatics a bit invasive?

Gillyflower18 profile image
Gillyflower18 in reply to Gillyflower18

Sorry I meant lunaria

There are a few plants in that category - euphorbia being another which is flowering at the moment where I don't really want it, also michaelmas daisy. These have made a takeover now I can nolonger keep it all under control.

I have the same problem with perennial ageratem and Japanese anemones. And don’t even talk about long I have battled violets and mint!🤣

I have the same with Japanese anemones and violets in the front garden. The mint is now confined to two large pots. I did that years ago. It certainly is survival of the fittest in the plant world.

I remember that saying too and autograph books wow I had forgotten about them. I loved mine

I hope you’re not suffering today 🙂🙃🙂

Hi Spinner1916

Another Michigander here...Grand Rapids. I've been doing garden prep too and yup...very sore.. haha, but it's worth it. My daffodils and hyacinths are up and just starting to bloom. You are right, we're suppose to drop back into the 40's for the whole next week. I know our warmer weather is just around the corner...we wait the better part of the year for it. Stay well!

Wow all these Michiganders! I’ve always loved gardening here. You never know what to expect! I work in a greenhouse normally but this year my boss wanted me home because I’m in the vulnerable area. My garden has never looked better because I have the time!

Spinner1916...where are you in Michigan? Have you heard whether the greenhouses will be able to open this Spring? Sure hope so!!

Gillyflower18 profile image
Gillyflower18

Just outside Detroit. There’s a big fight going on about greenhouses. The government said we were exempt and could continue working so we did. Now they are saying we can’t sell to the public even if it’s online with no contact delivery. It doesn’t make sense and we are fighting it. A lot of people depend on us for their veggie gardens. Even regular gardening is important to the health of people. It keeps you sane and occupied. There is a petition going around if you’d like I could try to get it to you.

Hi Spinner1916

Happy Easter. I'm sorry I didn't get back sooner. I did go to the Mich. Farm Bureau website and signed the petition. We need our greenhouses to be able to open or at least take online orders. If you hear of any other petitions...let me know...I'll sign!

If you go to the Michigan Farm Bureau website you will see the garden center petition. Anyone who signs will be greatly appreciated. I hope at least they will let us take orders online and deliver them no contact.

You have to be an agricultural retailer or a member of the agricultural bureau unless I missed something .

Gillyflower18 profile image
Gillyflower18 in reply to sweetiepye

It says agricultural supporters. That’s pretty broad. Anyone who gardens is an agricultural supporter. I did it and the petition doesn’t ask where you work or what you do. You can also email the governors office direct. You can find that address online.

OK I'll give it another shot

I did a lot of canning yesterday and I'm paying for it today. My husband doesn't understand why I put my body thru this. But I get so much pleasure from it. Does your family understand why you don't mind living with pain if it means getting out in the garden on a sunny day?

They are gardeners too. We come from a strong gardening background do I think they do!
