problems with legs
I have terrible troubles with my legs, it is getting worse as I come down on the steroids. I have trouble getting out of a chair, and walking is awful, am walking with a stick at the moment. My legs are swollen, but not as bad as they were, I sit with my feet up to help the fluid.Around the house I have to hold on to the walls etc., its so painful, I say is it the steroids or just the GCA/PMR, the illness is such a problem. Some days are better than others, so keep trying. good luck.
Hi yusuf and pandr,
Fluid retention which is effecting the ability to walk and causing pain should be investigated by a GP.
Please try and see your doctors as soon as possible. Steroids do cause fluid retention, but if the legs are swollen very badly then the condition should be investigated.

Hi Pats,
My GP and Rhemy know about the painful legs, the swollen ankles and feet don't really change. the swelling is usually there when I get up, I think the pain has got worse since going down on the steroids, I started on 60mg 10 months ago, and am now on 12.5mg. seeing GP this week after my blood test, and may have to increase again, Unfortunately I have heart problems as well, and very high blood pressure, so perhaps I,m not the best person to help yusuf But it is useful to know someone has a similar problem.
