Hello, I'm 42, since December I'm experiexperiencing pain to the left chest , difficult in breathing , cold the the hands and to the foot, I'm diabetic. I went to do many ECG and they were all normal, I did ecodoppler in Janaury to the heart which show actually some mild stuff one in particular was the separation of the pericalpericardial layers. My GP told me to not be worried that is anxiety and tell me anyway to do an EKG under stress but when I went to do it, the doctor told me he cannot execute it because with that minimial seperation of the pericardial layers , it could be dangerous and address me to get help for a possible pericarditis because of course she wasn't sure. I'm totally angry with my damn GP because he address everything with anxiety anyway the last thing he gave to me was blood pressure holter which I remove today but my blood pressure is optimale maybe sometimes on the border of high like today that the pain came back it was 133/80. Until now , the pain come and go sometimes it is light, sometimes is worse and it gets worsen when I do physical activities(which I suspended) or I get excited or worried of whatever emotional condition I have. There is also something wrong like lump in the throat but I suffer of acid reflux and it could be it but I'm not sure of it at this point neither. I'm not sure of anything. Other symptoms I'm having only now, are shortness of breath, pain to the left upper shoulder(not always)but the hunger of air is the one that worried me a lot. I didn't try to take any FANS because I'm diabetic and I don't know if they will help. Could this symptoms be Pericarditis? As anyone experiexperienced symptoms similar to this that I'm having ?
Thank you

Hello Waving3822. It seems that you are asking your question on the wrong forum. This forum is for people who have Polymyalgia Rheumatica/Giant Cell Arteritis. There is nothing in you profile to suggest that you have either of these conditions so I suggest you ask your questions on the British Heart Foundation forum where you are more likely to receive the answers you need.
Was going to suggest same, but noticed that this question was asked on that forum a month ago -with only a few replies. But not in our sphere -so not sure where else to suggest.
hello, sorry for the confusion of my post in here but I saw a post regarding pericarditis so I wanted to try in here too. Yes I post there but I got very few replies. I'm from Italy but as my rule I always check out forum in English. I'm 42 and I'm diabetic
I have pericarditis along with bilateral pleural effusions. I would go to your GP and describe your pain then they can evaluate and if they think it could be they will send you for an X-ray.
No need to apologise. We often have to explore different avenues to discover what is required. I suggest that you to contact The British Heart Foundation-website here: google.com/aclk?sa=l&ai=DCh...
Different countries may have different procedures but the BHF may at least advise you about the possibility of having pericarditis and what you might do next. Good luck.
I have edited my reply to add that you should part company with your current GP who seems oblivious to your symptoms and hopefully find another who will be more sympathetic to your concerns. I know nothing about the health system in Italy but we have a member of this forum who may well have suggestions of her own. I hope she sees your post.
Thank you all for your support, I will contact them. I did contact GP but unfortunately they aways label this kind of stuff as anxiety(not always OK) and also because my ekg was normal but of course it is not the only meter of judgment possible but then he wash his hands about the issue. He could have given me the test to see if there is any inflammation enzymes in the blood and so on. Well anyway
I had/have bad pains on the left hand side of my chest, they are really strong when it happens. It’s worse if I’m lifting heavy items, or mowing the lawn, things like that trigger it. I mentioned it to my Dr when I saw him about a foot injury I have, & I have costochondritis. I don’t say this is what you gave, pericarditis is quite different, but you may like to study it on web sites.
Yes but you had an injury so there is a cause of it but anyway the pain worsen with movement , when the heart's beats reaches 87 or 100 bpm like when I'm fast walking , the pain becomes more important then when I'm sitted. The only pathology I had is diabetes which is very well controlled and sclerosis of the bladder for which I'm taking urorec. I noticed there is a hunger of air , and that damn lump in my throat get worsen when I'm walking but I also suffer of reflux but of course no medicines was prescribed only Pariet under my insistence. So anyway if the pain becomes really though I will go to ER since I don't think there are many things to do. I guess I will repeat my Echodoppler to see if anything change from the one I made in January
I probably wrote that wrongly. Yes,I felt it after lifting heavy items, but I also get the pain when I’ve done nothing at all! It makes me rush for my BPmonitor, & once I nearly called for an ambulance…it’s quite frightening! Sounds like you need to find a heart forum, or see a different doctor.
I live in Italy - but up north and I think our system here is different from other regions. A lot of Italians coming here on holiday arrange for medical tests here! Do you not have any private doctors you could go to directly and take your GP out of the chain?
Hello, yes most of the exams I did was made privately(many EKGs , Ecodoppler and cardiological visit) and I was thinking to repeat the EchoDoppler privately since with the National health care I will have it in April and I think I was already lucky that it wasn't scheduled for next year. Yes, in Northen Italy is different , in the north, you have already the feeling you're in another country compared to the center(where I live ) and south Italy
Not sure it is the TESTS you need to repeat - but the interpretation as to whether they are concerning enough to need treatment. Mild pericarditis will resolve on its own in a few months - and in that context you are in the early stages.
The main concern with acute pericarditis is to exclude the cause of the symptoms being a heart attack - and that has been done. Your problem now is that the explainations haven't dealt with your concerns and you feel as if they are dismissing you as merely being anxious.
Hi, I repeated the Ecodoppler and it didn't show any sign of problem a part from the ones found before except made for the separation of the pericaldial layers which wasn't present at all and of course is a good sign. I did the stress test with ekg and arrived to 142 bpm and no sign of issue also under stress. So the doctor gave me the pantoprazol which I started to take and the oppression to the chest went away , unfortunately it came another problem , the lump to the throat which start to worried me. I think all of this is created by a bad GERD which wasn't treated correctly. The pantoprazol isn't help me so much instead the pariet(Rabeprazole)was much more effective but I stop it in favor of the pantoprazol. Is there a good forum where to ask about GERD?
My endoscopist daughter told me that pantoprazole is a fairly weak PPI - but I cannot for the life of me remember which she said was the best!!! I suspect it is a case of trying until you find the one that suits you best!
