The plot thickens even more.

Turns out that the system of communication is not clear. Optician wrote to GP - GP did not refer on to the hospital for emergeny eye appointment. So until they had the note from rheumatology this morning stating that he wants me seen urgently so that we can reduce the steroids, they were leaving my appointment until late October as planned. They did not know of the new vision loss!! No appouintment was forthcoming. Spoke to a nurse at the hospital who said no appointment can be given until they hear from optician. I have sorted that just now and emal has gobe to their emergency referral box. Hopefully I hear something today .

This is an example of where the individuals in the different boxes do not have enough understanding of the diseases or protocols to help us sufferers and why we have t be able to advocate for ourselves which is stressful on top of all the worry. Thank heavebs for this forum and all the wisdom and experience that is shared!!

Good... but think the GP needs a kick when you have got things sorted. we all know there are mistakes made, that's human nature, but not when its marked as urgent!

When you feel up to it, a letter [polite but firm] to Practice Manager would be in order..

Lets us know outcome of this afternoon's appointment please.

What worries me is that some people just aren't well enough to fight like this. I dread to think what happens to them. As I'm reading this the next day, how did the appt go???

Posted under the plot thickens - unexpected turns. You are right - many find it hard to advocate for themselves or don't know what to do. or trust the medics to know what they are doing and that systems work!! A forum like this is so good at informing - I value it so much.
