Following on from my two previous posts DL asked for an update after my review with GP. I submitted the eConsult requesting a review and had to wait over 3 weeks for an appointment. Meanwhile I carried on with the increase by 5mg for 5 days, 3 mg for 5 days then 1mg and stopped there. Wrist pains masked at 5mg and 3mg but aware once again at 1mg. At review GP looked at my swollen wrist, finger and knee joints as well as discussion of my taper and lack of other typical PMR symptoms and concluded this was more likely not PMR but age and activity related wear and tear, which were masked at the increase by 5mg. Remaining on 1mg has not seen any worsening or new symptoms.

Thanks for this.
I know RA was mentioned in previous posts - have you been tested for that or not? As you know the signs with your DIL do you think it could be that?
If 1mg is helping, even a little, then I’d be inclined to stick with that.
Hello again. Yes we discussed RA and GP did not think it was that although no tests to be arranged. My DIL had much worse symptoms with severe pain, poor mobility and excessive fatigue. I have none of these. I have no plan to taper at the moment. Just watching what happens, if anything, next. Oh, and trying to resist gardening with any vigour!
