As the usual types of jar openers no longer help I was looking at the battery operated one button switch electric jar opener. Does it work though?

Do you mean, an electric can opener or glass jar? Plenty of choice for non-electric jar openers which work well. The lectric can openers we've had generally work well. There are various sorts from a simple hold in the hand a press the button to larger upright versions where the can sits underneath. If you put the subject matter into Google or Ebay or the big A a variety of devices will come up.

Plenty of very easy to use and efficient hand ones for jars available.

I think I will go for the battery one as the normal couple we have I can not use at the moment. And it just makes me cross.

When we had our kitchen redone I had brought the kettle before it was finished. But it is a bit heavy, for now just not filling it right up. Interesting points on that link

Is there a local supplier of disability aids? Your GP practice might know or the hospital Occupational Therapy department.

completecareshop.co.uk/livi...

shows a range - but what they show hasn't helped me in the past.

For a jar, putting boiling water in a container and holding the jar upside down so that just the metal top is in the water will usually slacken the metal from the glass as it expands faster and make it easier to remove.

And the old-fashioned way for a jar you didn't need to reseal was to punch a hole in the screw top!

We have two local suppliers as this is bungalow city, but everything they sell is £20 cheaper on Amazon even allowing for vat free. £56 they wanted for the loo seat, just over £20 on Amazon. When I went bionic I noticed how some companies take advantage.

I have to admit I had no idea what you meant. Then hubby told me and he only knew because there is a shop by that name somewhere. We are both from Kent originally so speak proper English ha ha. I had a friend when we lived near Hull and she had to repeat everything she said to me, but in return she was amazed at how much I swore.

I'm a fan of the Brix JarKey for lids which need a pressure release to let go. No batteries or power required.
