The ESR, erythrocyte sedimentation rate, is a marker for infection or inflammation somewhere in the body but is very general. Yours is very low, your lab "normal range" is 9-20 which is the range of levels that includes 95% of a large population of nominally healthy subjects. 2,5% in each case have levels that are lower or higher but are still healthy. If the level is very raised - it is a sign there is something going on somewhere. Yours is very low and indicates no inflammation but some people don't develop the reaction that raises it so it can be misleading. - and some doctors fall into the trap.
I thought the SCR would be the serum creatinine - but the figures they give don't fit my experience of creatinine testing. What others tests are with it? Does it say what it is anywhere?
Thanks for replying. I don’t know . The Dr did loads of blood test. I was asking if PNR had returned and could I take Steroids with me in case it became really bad. I don’t know if it’s PMR . I just ache everywhere and Paracetamol eases it a bit. She said depending on The Bl tests whether I should go back on Pred.
Psi have been Pred free for approx 8 weeks 😊
That really is about right for very low disease activity to build up to feeling it. And it is very unlikely that the bloods would be showing it yet even if you are a person who responds. Did you finish up all your pred when you finished taking them?
No I still got some but I agreed not to take until after blood tests. She agreed that Pred would prove whether or not PMR
Like your ESR result, the SCR (serum creatine) should also come with units. It is often measured in mg/dL, umol/L or mcmol/L, but other units, such as mg/L, are also possible. The number is meaningless without a unit.
