Pred increase

Having increased my dose as you advised for another 5 days, I wonder what I should do if I still feel like I did before, when I go back to the lower dose. Is it normal to feel the lack of pred for a few days as it gets back to normal or should the extra 5mg of pred have stopped that from happening. I still don't feel brilliant, and I can feel I am still stressed. I am not sure what to do if the lack of pred feelings get worse when go back down as I have always felt better previously after the extra 5 mg. Do I stick it out for 5 days to see and if so, what then if no better? Hope you can advise me.

So have you been at higher dose for 10 days now?.. and how do feel now? if nor still as well as you think you should be - as said before you can stay at that dose for UP TO 14 days in total.. so maybe try that.

As for how you will feel when you drop back down I don't think anyone can tell you that.. but you have a better chance id you drop down in two steps.... with a week at the interim dose..

So I could spent 14 days at +5 then another 7 days with plus 2.5? Would that mean I could still drop down with no probs after that? It isn't too long at a higher dose?

No that should be okay…. We often recommend a ‘staging post’ approach to getting back down - especially in a case like yours. Not all flares are the same…and it’s a softer way of reducing ..then stay put at lower dose and hope things settle.

Bear in mind too that the former dose might not be enough - go back to a lightly higher one anyway.

Thanks ladies. I will carry on as you have suggested with the extra 5 for a few days more. I think things are improving a bit now, but not there yet. Thanks as always for your help, it is most appreciated.
