I think it may be an individual thing…. I drank both caffeinated and decaffeinated tea/coffee during my GCA - not sure I noticed any great difference either way. Or do you mean bottles/cans?

Probably would be wise to moderate caffeine, but not sure it’s a complete no,no.

Sometimes sticking to decaf is recommended when you are trying to get adrenals to wake up, but in your case that’s not applicable at the moment.

Hello, I drank tea with no issues. I’ve read that caffeine can make one even more jittery and sleepless but it’s a question of degree I think. I had three cups a day of not strong but not weak either tea with no issues. It’s down to the person I think. Besides, on high doses of Pred, tea was a drop in the ocean I suspect!

I drink ordinary Tetley tea - I get jittery and restless WITHOUT my tea!

In my opinion,

helpfightra.org/teas-while-...

provides a more balanced view of tea and pred.

I love my caffeinated coffee at breakfast time and it helps to tee me up for the day. I'm not aware of any ill effects during 12 years so far of prednisolone for PMR/GCA.

I have about 3 or 4 cups of Earl Grey a day. Love it or at least loved it until I lost my sense of taste with Covid in October. Perhaps an opportunity to drink Green Tea now as now I cant tell the difference! Just hot and wet and can taste the tannins. Thank you PMRPro for the link. Very helpful as I did wonder.
