omeprazole at night

I take 20 mg of Omeprazole before breakfast under instruction from my GP although I have not suffered from acid reflux/ heartburn. I do however suffer from a hoarse voice which I was told by others who have the same that it may be “silent reflux” which is where the stomach acid is pushed up into the throat. They have had some relief by taking their ppi a half hour before their evening meal, that being their main meal of the day. My diet is usually granola with berries for breakfast then a small sandwich or egg on toast for lunch then my main meal is in the evening. Has anyone else had any success taking their ppi in the evening?

A PPI should be taken relative to the primary problem - and if you may have silent reflux, you are usually told to take it before bed. Once you are on a PPI for a while the effect lasts for much of the 24 hours. Try it - if it doesn't help after a few weeks, nothing lost.
