New research??

I’m not thinking of trying this as I’m happy with how my tapering is going and I’m feeling pretty ok.

But I read this on another site and the person who posted was a PMR sufferer and had switched their prednisolone taking to 20mg once a week and feel that’s working for them. So am curious to know if other people have read about this?

I've seen the topic in that link before - but it is for obesity management. Shown in mice.

Even alternate day dosing rarely works in PMR - I really can't see how 20mg once a week would work. Unless they were almost able to get off and it took a week for the inflammation to build up enough to cause symptoms.

I am always coming across people, particularly on Facebook, who say they have PMR and find that something off with the fairies works for PMR. Perhaps it is the placebo effect.

I haven’t heard of this before but it seems non-productive. The half life of prednisone is 2-4 hours and it’s pretty much out of your system by 16-22 hours. So after one day, it’s effect is gone. That means you are then in pain for 6 days if you truly have a chronic condition.

No - the stuff is out of your system but the antiinflammatory effect does usually last a bit longer. But you're right - not 6 days longer.
