increase dosage?

I think I’m doing the right thing but a little confirmation would help. Last evening I fell down a few stairs (tiredness I think) and have hurt my foot. Nothing broken but badly sprained and bruised. Gave me quite a shock and that seems to have lasted. Before the fall I was on 7mg and was trying to poke my adrenal glands into working again.

As a result of the trauma I’ve upped my dose to 10mg, do I repeat that for a few days and then back down to 7mg? Or do I decreased slowly again (9/8.5/8/7.5/7) over time?

Brain (fog) scrambled more than usual so some clarification would be hugely appreciated

If it is for less than 7-10 days you should be able to just drop straight back to 7mg.

The extra brain fog is very likely the shock and adrenals being a bit inadequate - and you could take a bit more than 10mg if that doesn't help.

Thank you, I’ll carry on with 10mg for a few days then. Many thanks

The sick day rules are explained in FAQs accessed via this page, just above my post on my iPad. I would stay on the higher dose for around a week and then return to my original dose, as long as I felt well there. A fall really shakes you up. Has a doctor looked at it?

When you say you were trying to poke your Adrenals into action, what do you mean?

7 mgs maybe too high for them to get the message and a slow careful taper is the way to help things along.

Thanks for reply. I had thought that at 7mg the adrenals were starting to wake up, just a few signs of being less moronic and reacting to events but as you say, a long way to go

They might be, you are best placed to feel the changes. It can’t really be accurately measured ( the ability for them to function) until you’ve crept down below 5 mgs to about 3 mgs in my experience. I am sure that you have never been moronic, be kind to yourself. 😉 Get a tablet cutter and go down by half mgs when you are fully recovered. The fatigue is awful, I know.

Ditto to PMRpro’s comments.. but do make sure you got over it before you reduce… there can sometimes be a delayed reaction….

I will do, many thanks. Other body areas are starting to hurt today which is consistent after a physical trauma so at 10mg I feel as though I’m ‘covered’ to deal with that. Thank you

Hope so, but if not you know what to do… for a short time, the increase in dose won’t impact on your current taper.
