Hello. Was your PMR ok when you came off Pred? What are your symptoms exactly and when did they start after coming off Pred?. When did you last feel ok?

18 months is usually still early days for PMR/GCA so it is worth seeing if your issues are disease activity or poor adrenal function or both by answering the questions above. We’ll do our best to help.

Sounds very much too fast a taper - so yes some PMR remaining, but also adrenals struggling….but we do need a bit more information… to make sensible suggestions.

See this re adrenals -

… but as you say in bio you’ve never felt well, so is everyone sure it is PMR… and if it is, it’s not just a case of ‘take these tablets and every will be fine’ — it needs managing, and invariably lasts a lot longer than 18 months.

If you have felt horrible all the time do you think you had a high enough dose of steroids to hit the PMR on the head initially? Did you just reduce over the eighteen months feeling rough?

I have the same questions as the others!

Did you use your user name as the title when you wrote your post? The title is to give some idea what your posts is saying/asking - your name appears automatically and a list of Related Posts is triggered. But I am beginning to wonder if this is yet another HU bug.

Well yes - pay peanuts and all that ...

But why is it the occasional case?

Dunno… and I doubt HU do either, unless as I’ve said before people don’t add a title, and the ‘system’ adds name as a default… might have to test it… when I’ve got nothing better to do!

You are better off without a Pred crutch, think positive!

If PMR is still active, Pred is not a crutch, it’s a necessity.

You are NOT necessarily better off without pred - which is NOT a crutch, it is a medication to counter inflammation which is very real. How on earth anyone can call pred a crutch is beyond me. It saves lives, it saves vision and it saves mental health.
