No, that's fine. Some people need a lot more than others but it is usual not to take the folic acid on the MTX (methotrexate) day as they told you so that is 6x5mg, 30mg.

SInce you have RA, you will probably get more help on other matters at the NRAS forum. This is for polymyalgia and giant cell arteritis which are different from RA but we do sometimes use MTX. And when you post - do mention something about your question in the title rather than using your forum name, Your name appears automatically, you don;t need to mention that, but the title tells people what info you are seeking or posting about so they are more likely to look at it.

I found injecting methotrexate did not cause me nausea. You could to try that. If course, I'm assuming you take tablets.

Thankyou Amkoffee, I haven’t been offered the methotrexate injection!!! I will ask about that but if it costs more then doubt I’ll get it…

Cost is not the issue - a rheumy orders it and if it is better for the patient, the GP must comply. Many get to use them.

Honestly, I think methotrexate is the worse drug I have ever had. I stopped taking it as it was taking 4 days for the side effects to reduce, my consultant said 2 days was acceptable but not 4 !!!! She asked me to try it again but with injections this time. It really is no better I had 4 days in bed, not been able to eat and have been totally lethargic,it’s totally unreasonable of them to keep me on it, consultant said there were a few other options. I still have poly myalgia symptoms for which she is not explaining but I’m going for my synatchthen test on Tuesday so we will see what happens next with the Pref and by the way I took folic acid every day but the injection day apparently they help with the side effects!!!!

side effects for me on methotrexate are- green puffy eyes, sickness, unable to eat warm food or drinks without vomiting, ocular migraine, lethargic, unable to walk for any time, kitchen to lounge exhausted, sore mouth, small painfull pimples on tongue, stiffness and aching on right side only. However today the first day since my last injection I could run a marathon, injection tomorrow!
