I fell this is inheruted. And it seems like one with PMR has other issues also. PMR hit me at almost 80 yr. and I really did not know one could be in that much stress and pain and still be alive. Looking back I ssee so many signs of it through out the years. I am now 85 and have much muscle weakness plus almost blind due to anothere family inheritance. Keep the Faith!! I really like this program.

They reckon 25% might be genetic. I think that applies to all auto immune diseases though. Also if you get one auto immune disease you have a higher chance of getting another, against not have one in the first place.

Interestingly my father had PMR/GCA in last 8yrs of his life and my sister had PMR for just under 3yrs! My cousin on my father's side has PMR, as do I.

Definitely seems to run in our family!

My niece is coeliac and my mother had ME which are both auto immune diseases. I suspect my mother might have had PMR too.

There is a genetic component but it isn't inherited as such - that would mean there is a specific gene that causes the illness, There is a group of genes that make it more likely that you will develop PMR but that doesn't mean you will - other things must come along to trigger it.

My sister and younger brother also have both and I suspect our elder brother had undiagnosed PMR. Brother's Rheumy says no connection.

I think we all have genetic components that link us to specific diseases. Perhaps we are all held to account by our d.n.a.

There are things beyond our control.

And we are linked to familiar conditions

Perhaps I'm wrong, who knows for sure.
