Help - I've mistakenly doubled my lunchtime dose!

I am on 10 mgs a day - 5mgs at 2 am and 5 at 2pm. I can certainly feel the difference as I have taken a double dose... rather hyper. Should I leave it 24 hours until next lunchtime and take 5mgs??

Just go back back to normal dose tomorrow - and enjoy this after afternoon! If you don’t take the 2am dose as normal, then you may have a difficult morning tomorrow…

Thanks Dorset Lady - so I have an extra 5mgs today as a special treat!! I wonder if that will ease the stiffness in my shoulder joints?? And silence the creaks?

Might well reduce the stiffness in shoulders, and if so, that may tell you something! Enjoy your afternoon 😊

😃 Indeed something I have been wondering about. Never sure if the stiffness is because I am not exercising them enough, arthritic wear and tear or good ole PMR!

Agree, it’s a bit difficult sometimes to know…..

Lucky you! So much better than the opposite when one forgets to take the tablets.

I did that once. Never again! I learned my lesson quickly.

I did it twice having sworn to myself after the first time I would never do it again!!

Or even worse when you are not sure whether you have taken them or not - otherwise known as the Pred Effect. I must think of some way of marking that I have taken them or rather it. Perhaps I have to buy one of those day marked pillboxes. Night time pill taking or should i say early morning is fine.

dosette box for sure…… sort it out on a quiet day when you can concentrate on the job in hand…..

A dosette box is very useful - I fill mine every night as I have 5 different dosing times what with keeping 2 drugs that are more than once a day apart! But it is very handy for going outm it lives in my handbag al day and on the bedside table at night.

I have a 7 day pill organiser and it’s been great, until a few weeks ago when I set it up for a whole week with the wrong dose of pred -1 mg pred instead of 5 mg. I couldn’t stay awake during the day and had a lot of hip and knee pain at night. I put it down to the after effects of Covid, until I set the box up for the following week and something made me wonder! I’ll never know for sure, but after a couple of days definitely on 5 mg I improved no end!

Since the tablets are so similar we have suggested in the past that you use an indelible marker to write the dose of the pack with a VERY large figure so you can miss it!

But lucky you being on 5mgs! Sounded a tough week though.

I put an alarm on my phone.

I put mine in a small cereal bowl so I know whether the pills are reducing in number or not.

That's if you can remember the numbers .... which is where I occasionally fall flat!

My husband found a 5mg on the bathroom counter this week and since we didn’t know what day it came out of, I just took it. No harm no foul! My husband has been in charge of all my meds since I came home from the hospital with the extra meds for my surgery. It happens but I not going to stress about it. You will have a lovely day!

Bless you all for suggestions and thoughts! I noticed the decrease in stiffness but there is some there at a deep level. Also felt a rush after taking the extra 5mg which was uncomfortable. I have had a very stressy month before (I notice that sick husbands tend to really load on the stress for those on this forum 🤣) which made things difficult with pain and exhaustion but what I am finding is that when the stress decreases so do the symptoms and I can go back to square one - not that I don't have ongoing stiffness or odd knee problems at 10mgs and currently psoriasis flaring in one big toe. But that is for another thread.

Hi Alchemy8, I would be lost without my dosette boxes. I have four sets which contain a weeks supply of daily boxes, each day is a different colour and has three sections for morning, noon and night. The manufacturer is Auvon but there are other brands which are very similar. I’m currently on 11 different prescription medications taking 17 tablets throughout the day and would get in a real mess without my boxes. I did have a glitch last Christmas when away and underdosed on the Pred. I won’t do that again!!
