Hi
Has anyone experienced a flareup and shaking when coming down pred?
Hello, what dose are you on and when did you start Pred exactly
I HAVE BEEN ON PRED FOR THREE YEARS AND WAS DOING OK TILL I GOT TO 8MG
Do read DL’s links. 8mg can be a difficult time because your adrenal glands need to start working and they often don’t straight away. This can make you feel shakey and deeply tired. If you keep going back up because it doesn’t feel nice you are just putting off the part of the process which needs you to be low in Pred so your body can learn to make up the shortfall. It can also give you all over body aches that I think some think is a flare, but not specific muscle areas like PMR. Telling the difference can be tricky until you spot patterns.
I don’t know what you do with your time but this is a time when some people really have to pull back and rest more or else they feel really bad. Eventually the adrenal glands start to work and you feel better but that’s usually a few mg lower. However, you have to go through this reduction really slowly or else it can cause problems as described in the links.
A flare is usually caused when you have gone below the level of Pred your illness actually needs, and at 8mg the shakes could be due to adrenal stuttering to get going again. Couple of links to have a look at -
