So, I took everyone's advice and saw my doctor about the pain I have in my jaw. The good news is that it isn't GCA. It's TMD (temporomandibular joint disorder). I have started on gabapentin so hopefully, I will get better soon.

Jaw Pain: UPDATE
Definitely good news re the possible GCA and hopefully will improve soo. Interesting list of do's and dont's on the NHS info!
Good -as Bcol say lots of info on exercise etc online if not given already
That’s a relief! I also suffered from TMJ issues partly from weak muscles and therefore around the joint but also from problems in the cervical spine. An osteopath sorted that out with gentle manipulation (not crunching adjustment) and the pain in the jaw was much better. At least you have some symptomatic relief but if you can, it might be worth tackling the cause.
A relief, past experience has made me question everything though. Don’t lose your alertness, particularly if other key GCA symptoms join in such as an unusual headache, sore tongue, any eyesight issues. During my 7 years of PMR and then GCA/LVV, I have encountered astounding ignorance and attempts to bat me off at primary care stage.
Wishing you well, on-going!!
Thank you
I have had TMJ problems most of my life. A night guard definitely helps. That being said, in 2020, I thought I was having TMJ problems again. Had a new night guard made which did not help. Visited the specialist over and over again and nothing helped. Not one of my medical specialists ever thought outside the box and checked by sedimentation and CRP until I mentioned it. Bottom line, you might not have GCA now, but be vigilant. Only the best to you.
Night guard for my teeth and jaw massage got rid of tmj.
can I ask how your TMJ was diagnosed please?
The doctor examined me, got me to move my jaw in various positions, and asked about a range of other symptoms (none of which I had). Then gave the diagnosis. I looked it up on NHS website afterwards and agreed!!
ah ok thank you, I did see my GP mos ago, and told him about my jaws at that time, he kind of said, on TMJ is below ear area, kinda wrote off, I even thought may be clenching jaws and unaware, even during sleep, so what kind of treatment do they give you for TMJ?
brilliant news
