The other week someone posted about a study saying pred increases the risk of CVD. Here is one posted on LupusUK that related CVD and autoimmune disease. The results look very similar. So was it the pred or the underlying disease?

Think the authors of the 2 papers need to get together ...
Thanks for this - interesting. Under the article is a reference to a study specifically about pmr and gca and the conclusion was that there is no evidence of Cv disease caused by these! So that's good to know at least!
Maybe we need to get copies of them all to give to doctors because I think this current fad for getting patients off pred even faster is due to the one showing even low doses of pred cause CVD.
I don;t imagine for the moment they have controls of untreated PMR and GCA patients, just whether patients on pred have more CVD than patients who didn't have PMR/GCA, And inadequately managed inflammation in the arteries will have its own consequences.
But of course if it's not caused by the Pmr it's likely that it's caused by the Pred...
Actually I don't see how they can come up with these conclusions...all the patients with Pmr or Lupus or RA will be on medication, so how can they tell what is causing the Cvd?
What about this one? Steroids may cause depression as they ‘change shape of brain’.

Like the reference about "tiredness"!!!!!
I think I am living in a dream, everything becomes madder and madder. I wonder what shape my brain is now, Mickey Mouse shaped?
Didn't think about a dream - but I was just looking at it all this morning and thinking WTF ..........
