Ugh!!

Sitting in the garden this afternoon I rolled up my trouser legs to find long gingery hairs growing from the knees down. Yet another side effect I suppose.

That is interesting. My leg hair and also hair under my arms disappeared which was great news as I enjoy swimming! My face is another matter.

Me too, a plus! Head hair growing back, now looks like a haystack, but have wig when need to try and look presentable!

Similar - my body hair doesn't even seem to grow anymore, I shaved my legs in May to go on holiday and they've barely grown a mm since!

Oh dear. Like others I found my underarm hair disappeared and leg hair much less. I always shaved from knees down anyway but need to do it less frequently since pred.

Weirdly, I seem to have gained more forearm hair but as I'm a blonde it's not really noticeable.

Scalp hair is much thinner but have acquired 'peach fuzz' on outer cheeks (where a man's sideburns would be) but because it's blonde it's only really me that can tell.

I know it's frustrating but it's easy enough to sort out and much better than some of the many other more serious side effects pred can cause.

HaHa, im the same , shocked when i saw i ha hairy arms for the first time and fuzz on the face! It was a gamble i had to get rid of it.as for legs and under arms hardly any !! Btw arms and fuzz did not come back as my dose lowered !🙂

Yes...I've noticed the same...but also noticed the peach fuzz does go as dose lowers, thankfully.

Oh - so this longer, more noticeable peach fuzz on my cheeks and jawline is due to Pred! I've been on pred for almost 3 months. I'm a bit self-conscious about the hair, even though it's colourless and have been thinking about having it waxed, but then I thought waxing might encourage more growth, so am unsure what to do.

Well mine is blonde so not that noticeable.I decided to leave it and it's disappearing now, the lower I reach on my pred dose.

Like you, I don't want to start a routine I'd have to continue.

I've never waxed anything but I did get an epilator many years ago. Repeated use of that actually seemed to weaken regrowth - but the opinions are mixed on that too. However, it doesn't encourage more growth. I used my epilator on my pred beard - but ouchy the first time or two but it worked well. They sell versions for facial use nowadays.

Just shave it off. It won't encourage growth. Once you're off the Prednisone, you won't have the facial hair problelm

Mine were black when I was on methyl prednisolone!!! Since my hair is totally white I wasn't sure WHY!

No underarm hair, very little growth on legs, eyebrows sparse with a mind of their own, eyelashes short and stubby, peach fuzz on cheeks and now again a strong, wiry black hair on my chin that you could use as a picture hook! Shades of Nanny McPhee without the pimple 😂.

That sounds unique! I'm in the hairless group....except for head (🙏🏻) and chin😢. I'm glad my eyebrows are holding their own~! As Kendrew said, there are so many other possibilities that couldn't be covered with trousers~!

The hairs on my legs disappeared but are back good and black now I am down (nearly) to 4mg, I did have a spate of head hair falling out, but it is so thick you couldn't see the difference apart from having to clear clumps from pillows etc. Hair on the face has always been an issue and is there, good and dark, in spades. It gets us one way or another but is better than pain.

~I've got upper legs like that of a spider - never seen it so hairy.Bought epilator as PMRpro suggested long time ago but need to re-read the instructions - one needs a license to drive the jolly thing~

I’m hairy like you. Legs like a man. Had two years when I couldn’t reach to shave. Lovely 🙄. No one to see but medical personnel and my daughters.Most of my friends (old like me, but not on pred) have lost all leg hair. I Have enough hair on my head for three. I don’t know if pred has anything to do with it. I’ve always been thus. My best, Ann

Used to be ginger. Now the hair on my head is white, and thinning, but the leg hair is definitely ginger. It shines in the sunlight . I'll attack it with a razor tonight.
