Managed to lower prednisolone to 0.5mg and no original symptoms of PMR. So far so good 😊

Best wishes to all the members.

Hopefully on the right path nevertheless it will be anxious moments when I do come off prednisolone.

Yes it does take some time to get the body back to normal …and hopefully disease gone into remission.

Hope it keeps on going!! But never forget - even 1/2 mg can be enough so ca canny - no hurry!!!!!

Have been on 0.5mg since the 25th of June 2022. I will continue on this dose till the 23rd of July 2022 ( 1 month) .The question is should stop taking prednisolone thereafter and see what happens?

You could use one of the slow tapers to get down to zero -I used my version (linked) - there are others -rather than just stop overnight… gives the body a bit more time to adjust.

I wouldn't. I would at the very least do 1/2 to zero as a perfectly normal slow taper. Bit I would do another month or two at 1/2mg and that last step I would do even more slowly - repeating each step for example. You wouldn't be the first to discover that 1/2mg was doing something - it is SUCH a low dose it is doing nothing bad but it MAY be doing something good.

Being an amateur with this medical condition, I will take the advice from the experts like yourself, DorsetLady and others in the health forum and continue with the 0.5 mg for sometime. It’s better not to rush to going to zero and face the consequences of starting all over again. Thanks

Look at it as a talisman!! Prof Dasgupta admitted he often keeps patients at 2 to 3mg to reduce the risk of relapses - I think that is pessimistic, i think a lot of patients will get lower even if they don't get off entirely.

Great advice. You’re so close to zero now so don’t rush it but good luck.

Thanks MiloCollie. Take care and best wishes
