Should I up my dose ?

Hi all, I have recently returned from an extended holiday in Rhodes, which was very relaxing and I was feeling really good and stable on 5mg of Pred. However my flight home was delayed by 5 hours which meant we missed a connecting flight home to Cornwall. Long story short, very long stressful day and various trains to get home. I felt ok the first couple of days home and probably over did things with gardening & cleaning etc and now am in a bad way. Legs / bum painful getting up and down and shoulders arms aching. It’s my own fault I know, and I hate that I have to increase dose. Need advice on going up and then coming back to 5 ? And for how long please ?

What I would do is increase to 10mg for a week or so, ensure I felt back to normal then reduce say to 6 or 7mg for a a few days, if you feel OK then back to normal at 5mg.

I absolutely agree, I would 'Do' the same.

I'm not entirely convinced it is a flare - it sounds more like the result of all the hanging around, cattle class seats on planes and trains and then doing the clearing up post holiday. It would have finished me off!

You could TRY adding 5mg (i.e. take 10mg) for a few days and see if it helps - and fair enough if it does - but you can take that for up to 7-10 days and just drop straight back to 5mg, That is a normal step down if taking pred short term for something and that is effectively what it is.

It’s hardly your fault. I’d agree with Pigletta and AndrewT. A
