just a suggestion, there seems to be a lot of people reading up on alternative ways of treating this somewhat devious condition, a good friend of mine has written a book called natures secrets giving an insight into all matter of things, worth a read in my opinion.

Hi. Sadly, the only treatment for PMR is Prednisolone. There is no cure because it isn't known definitively what causes the disease, but eventual remission is achieved in between 1-2 years rarely, 4-5 years for many and much longer for others. There are people on the forum who are interested in alternative therapies. I myself take vitamin supplements, e.g. calcium and vitamin D, K2.... but a healthy lifestyle including diet and sensible exercise are the mainstays.

Your friend will have done his own research into recommendations in his book so I'm in no way decrying this. There may be people who will benefit as long as they check medication compatibility so thank you for posting this.

Hi, what did you get from it?

A better understanding of the role vitamins and natural remedies have in our somewhat weird ( PMRGCA ) lifestyle, I say weird because we have no outside ailments. Vitamin A, calcium, cramp even nausea, while not directly related, or are they, who knows, just a better overall understanding.

I think we need to be careful of looking at alternative ways of treating PMR or anything else if it comes to that. A friend is an anti vaxxer, his wife is an homeopath, and he is really ill with Covid. His wife also recommended homeopathy rather than standard treatment to another friend who had cancer and in the end she died at the age of 56. Her husband has never forgiven her.

Couldn't agree more. I'm all for using alternative approaches to manage side effects or improve QOL. But NEVER claiming they "cure" anything unless there have been extensive randomised clinical trials that show it to be true,

agreed totally there is no substitute for modern drugs to control PMRGCA, but natures secrets will educate and run alongside hopefully to aid the process.
