Prednisolone tapering and flare up

Hi there advice needed.

I have been taking Prednisolone for 27 months and had managed to taper from two to one mg Prednisolone, but I am having a flare up .

What dosage should I go up to and how should I then taper back down.

This post gives general advice on flares - but as you are so low just returning to previous dose may be enough, even 0,5mg at very low doses can make a big difference…and maybe reduce by that amount in future once you get back on track…,

Always worth trying that initially - but don’t let it build up -give it a week maybe. If it does help stay on a month ..if it doesn’t work within that timeframe you’ll need to higher…hope not. But at such low doses, there is no rush!

If the 2mg doesn't work, don't be afraid to take 5mg for a few days before dropping back to 2mg.

When I was at exactly the same dosage, PMR flared up after Astra Zeneca vaccination and my rheumatologist increased the dosage to 6 mg/day. After a week my symptoms had disappeared but we very carefully tapered down over 12 months back to alternating now 1 mg and 2 mg. Good luck and hopefully you can enjoy a symptomless spring.

I am myself just tapering and just gone from 5-4 having started on 15 last April so far so good. Sorry I am unable to advise but good luck. I am sure others on this site can help.

Back to the last level at which you were well and leave it longer before cutting pills. Maybe 1.75 1.5 1.25 then 1. Then 0.75 0.5 0.25 none?
