I am very slowly tapering from 4.5mg to 4mg and a bit worried that when I get down to the half-way stage (in 4 weeks' time) because I will (hopefully) be flying off to the Med. for a much needed holiday. Four in our family group of three generations and we all need a really good rest.
A few months ago I had to go back up on prednisolone due to excessive fatigue and sweating and I have some fears that this is happening again. It probably is adrenals kicking up a fuss.
My question: is this sort of fatigue and sweating worse in warmer climes? If so, apart from rest, drinking (non-alcoholic) and switching off from stessful stuff, is there anything else I need to do that might alleviate fatigue and sweating?
Thank you.
PS I posted this yesterday but seems to be lost (probably me).

I know that almost everyone thinks it is always hot in the Med - believe me, it isn't!!! Even in northern Africa (Marrakesh for example) the average max April temp is about 25C. Days are still relatively short and nights are almost chiily. And it is the cool nights that make high temps bearable at any time of year. If you keep in the shade during the day it will be quite bearable - In the sun here in the mountains it is absolutely roasting - but if I cross the road into the shade of the buildings I still need a thick jacket.
Thanks. We travel to Malta. Temps will be around 17 / 18 probably. I've lived in Malta during the height of summer and I've lived in the North African desert - as you say it really feels cold at night . But that was before I got PMR so I don't know whether even a slight increase in temperature will influence my 'on a knife-edge' tapering.
I have been to hot hot Australia with these diseases and was honestly never really dry. So it was loose billowy clothes for me, a little portable fan, a straw hat and lurking about in the shade. It still managed to be lovely, surrounded by family and the air con is fabulous.
Thank you. It's not that I expect to be sweating hot from the sun; it's the deathly fatigue and excessive sweating from PMR/adrenals that worries me a bit as I have no experience of this in warmer temps. I guess it's a csae of being sensible and not, as I am inclined to do, overdoing things.
Loll about in a cool pool if hot . Use the air conditioner well . We have had an abnormally hot summer and I have zero energy . Enjoy yourself but find ways to keep cool so you can still enjoy yourself, maybe in different ways than you used to before PMR . Relax !
I live in Australia, just heading into autumn now. It can get pretty hot here in summer, high 30s, low 40s and on those days I definitely notice that any PMR sweating, fatigue is worse if I don't do something about it. But sweating and fatigue happen to nearly everyone when it's hot, so if you can dress appropriately and adjust your activity to match the weather, the sweating and fatigue from PMR should hopefully be managed as well. Staying well hydrated is really important too in those conditions. But it doesn't sound like the weather will be extremely hot where you'll be though (although it might seem it relative to a UK winter!). Enjoy your trip and have a lovely relaxing break.
I also have the terrible sweating symptom ! In my case it does not matter if its hot or cold. Plus it comes out of nowhere ! i agree with the others ,just dress as cool as you can. I can not remember the last time i wore a winter coat, i always go for thin clothes , enjoy your holiday .🌷
