This is a random question but we are thinking about moving permanently to Cyprus, the Greek part of the island.I have been on pred for over 2 years and I was wondering whether this drug is available and how much it costs in Cyprus?

There is a member living in Cyprus - at the moment can’t recall who - but they hopefully will see post and reply. Think the issue is size of tablets - have a feeling 5mg may be lowest - but could be wrong!

Reading PrOjection's posts it looks as though only 5 mg pred are available,I guess I will be spending time cutting tablets.

Can you still move easily to Cyprus? You now have to apply for visas and residency as a third country national. Have you lived abroad before?

I have made enquiries and it is possible to get a temporary residence card . I have been advised to rent a property before commiting to a purchase, the minimum term to rent for residency is 12 months. I have been on holiday to Cyprus several times and know someone who has lived out there for 20 years , they do not regret moving from the UK! I am also having problems with possible RA (not had x-rays yet to confirm) and my doctor thought it would be beneficial to my health.

I don't regret leaving the UK for here at all - and am horrified at what I may have to go back to now I am alone here since my husband died. However - I had lived abroad before so knew what we were heading for. Just remember moving at our age is a bit different from moving in middle age. I'm not sure about a Mediterranean island being good for RA either. Yes it is warmer - but it isn't an equable climate and winters can be quite windy and damp, both things I struggle with. We spent quite a bit of time in Malta in the winters - not sure I'd want to live there all winter.

“quite windy and damp” Goodness knows how you would cope with England then! Mind you, living in Germany at the moment isn’t healthy either.😏

This is very interesting to me as my husband and I are currently planning to move to Corfu in the spring and hoping I will be able to find a doctor who understands PMR! 😎

I completely understand! We just went to have a look-see in September with a view to renting but ended up falling in love with a bit of a project and putting down a deposit! Like you we’re really excited about the new venture - some reservations but not big enough to keep us here! Looking forward to seeing how you get on. 😁
