I’ve recently been experiencing off and on again some nausea, usually not real bad, but a few times was really sick. I’ve been very slowly tapering , now at 5 mg. Is nausea a side effect of being at a low dose? Anyone else having this problem? TIA!

Nausea and pred tapering
I think it can be one of the effects of tapering. It’s hard to advise without information on how much you’ve dropped by ie from what dose. I experienced more episodes of nausea and even vomiting from PMR in the early days. Oddly, having something to eat can sometimes help this transient nausea, just like during pregnancy, I found.
Hi, along with the extreme fatigue you mentioned in your reply to SheffieldJane would say nausea could be your adrenals struggling - have a look at this link -

There are others in FAQs as well, just look under Adrenal glands.
It can be a symptom of poor adrenal function - especially in combination with the fatigue.
When I got down to 5mg I experienced this my thoughts were that it was due to my adrenal having to start working
Try taking a tablespoon of cracked linseed on cereal or in yoghurt. This helped me with nausea. Drink a big glass of water with it.
Nausea can also mean gastritis or inflamed stomach. This can happen from prednisone. On higher doses of prednisone I needed to take an H2 blocker; a PPI gives me gas. On lower doses, taken with food, I have no problems.
