No calories here?

pal-o-mine profile image

I'm trying to keep my weight down, so I wondered if there is anyone who could give me some ideas on what I can eat or drink that has NO calories. This is a tongue-in-cheek post, but I'm sure you all have some excellent ideas. We've already discovered that if you've got PMR or GCA there are no calories in chocolate so come on, get your thinking caps on!

Meringues- they are full of air!

Actually champagne is okay as well - full of bubbles, and we all know bubbles are just air anyway.

Well, that’s my excuse anyway - and I’m sticking to it.

Oooh good shout DL - my favourite tipple x

I love the way the bubbles go up my nose and tickle. Makes me quite light-headed. Now that proves there's no calories in it!

Oh, I'm so happy now - you've just made my day. Now, where did I put that bottle I stashed away for special occasions?

Special occasion! It’s Tuesday isn’t it? That’ll do 😂🤣

Absolutely - although personally I prefer prosecco ...

Aero chocolate is full of bubbles too!

pal-o-mine profile image
pal-o-mine in reply to Kendrew

Ooh! I love Aero even more now!

Well chocolate is good for you, made with milk, (calcium) comes from the cocoa bean (bean, vegetable part of your 5 a day) so balanced meal really 😇

I like that idea, low calories and really nutritious. That's my lunch sorted then!

Saw very sparkly bottles of prosecco the other day - didn't look to see if the buddles were coloured too ...

DorsetLady profile image
DorsetLadyPMRGCAuk volunteer in reply to PMRpro

Well, as an expert, you would know that coloured bubbles are most definitely zero calories…..😉

Nextoneplease profile image

Well, I don’t think there are any calories in the banana and walnut cake I’m about to eat…..I mean, come on, a friend made it for me, and bananas and walnuts are good for you, aren’t they?!? 🤦‍♀️x

pal-o-mine profile image
pal-o-mine in reply to Nextoneplease

Oh, I love bananas and walnuts. Now all I need is a friend to make me one and I can eat it totally guilt-free.

😍

Kendrew profile image
Kendrew in reply to pal-o-mine

.......and if that friend eats more of it than you, that negates all the calories in your piece. Win win!

pal-o-mine profile image

I like the sound of that!

The old favourite- it doesn’t have calories if it comes from someone else’s plate.

pal-o-mine profile image

I love this. The best excuse for nicking chips off my OH's plate. He's got too many there anyway, so I need to help him out - right?

Right - how could you not? 🤷‍♀️

Oh....and food used for medicinal purposes never have calories, such as....chocolate, brandy, toast, pie, and Sara Lee cheesecake....apparently!!

pal-o-mine profile image
pal-o-mine in reply to Kendrew

I'm pretty sure I read that somewhere in a medical paper- or it might have been my shopping list.

Ah but we’re not counting carbs or calories, the thing to do is count our units of C02 apparently. The less the better, so we’ll all become skinny, obviously.🤷‍♀️

pal-o-mine profile image
pal-o-mine in reply to 123mossie

So, if I get this right, I must hold my breath as much as possible and that's how I get to lose weight. Ooh, I'm getting quite dizzy now. I'll reserve judgement on this idea.

Lemon water.lol I drink tea or coffee with a half sweetener too.

pal-o-mine profile image
pal-o-mine in reply to Hunter134

Very refreshing and of course the sweeteners don't count. So a great choice.

Rum and diet is low in calories too.lol

Count me in although I actually prefer Bacardi and Ginger wine. Wonder if that counts - though probably not I guess.

Broken biscuits? Apparently they are ok to eat as the calories drop out when the biscuits break. Don’t eat the whole ones! 🤣🤣

pal-o-mine profile image
pal-o-mine in reply to Tiggy70

Does it count if I take a whole one and then break it? Although, thinking about it, most of our biscuits get broken anyway by Tesco delivery drivers when they toss them into the boxes!

DorsetLady profile image
DorsetLadyPMRGCAuk volunteer in reply to pal-o-mine

no!...that's definitely cheating....

..are you old enough to remember when Woolworth's had boxes of broken biscuits (all varierties in together), and you could buy as many or as few as you wanted...weighed out and in a paper bag.. now there's a novel concept!

pal-o-mine profile image
pal-o-mine in reply to DorsetLady

I remember Woolies well - and miss it dearly. Used to buy all our Xmas decorations there as they sold the longest lengths of tinsel around. Don't remember seeing the broken biscuits but loved the Pick-N-Mix sweets. Come to think of it, it was probably stopping at the sweets that made me miss the biscuits! I think I'll start a new campaign- bring back Woolworths and C&A.

DorsetLady profile image
DorsetLadyPMRGCAuk volunteer in reply to pal-o-mine

you're obviously not as ancient as me then...think when they tried to upgrade themselves, they ditched the broken biccies! I left the country for a few years with hubby (in the military)...and it all went to rats!

Good luck with campaign..

🤔

pal-o-mine profile image
pal-o-mine in reply to DorsetLady

They gave the broken biscuits to Rats? 😕

I'm about 4 years behind you - so not that much in the great scheme of things.

And thanks for the good luck with the campaign - I have a feeling I may need it.

DorsetLady profile image
DorsetLadyPMRGCAuk volunteer in reply to pal-o-mine

NO!...Woolworths went to rats.. it's a saying (or rather the polite version of a saying)... now you're just being giddy!😲

pal-o-mine profile image
pal-o-mine in reply to DorsetLady

Sorry- I know I can be a bit silly at times, but I'm blaming the pills!

pal-o-mine profile image
pal-o-mine in reply to DorsetLady

A bit like a jigsaw then. Wonder if anyone tried matching them up to check they had a whole one, only in little bits.😉

DorsetLady profile image
DorsetLadyPMRGCAuk volunteer in reply to pal-o-mine

You had to be savvy, sometimes there would be nice ones, like chocolate ones, and never buy any when the box was getting low - only crumbs remained!

I think we all need a bit more laughter in our lives. Trying to cope with PMR & GCA can be a real downer so I'm all for a little bit of light relief. Thanks for your support!

DorsetLady profile image
DorsetLadyPMRGCAuk volunteer in reply to pal-o-mine

You know the saying "laughter is the best medicine"... unfortunately it doesn't cure all, but does make us feel better - if only in the moment....and gets some out of us (no names, no pack drill) out of a lot of scrapes ..

🤦‍♀️

Actually, all matter is made up largely of empty space between the atoms, electrons, neutrons, etc, so nearly all of anything you eat is totally calorie free! You just have to strain out the atoms.

Wine is made from grapes. Half a bottle of wine counts as one of your five a day so the calories don’ t register 🤣🍷🍾

It is my firm religious belief that calories don't count on Sunday because God declared it a day of rest.

I'm praying you're right - because then I can justify eating extra chocolate this evening :)
