Hi all.Question, can you rib pain for no particular reason when you have PMR??
I ask because 3 times since the PMR onset,I've had this pain on breathing in different areas of my ribcage.First time it was just because I was bending over pulling weeds from my garden,2nd time i fell over but not directly onto my ribs and last week, just leaning on the chair arm to reach something. All incidents were what I would call everyday occurrences (apart from falling over,I was sober too!)and it's never happened before my PMR Today I have upper left chest pain on breathing, definitely muscular.I hate this feeling of being unwell....I've always been fit, gym, walking, swimming every week for years.

It sounds very like Costochondritis which is inflammation of the cartilage that joins your ribs to your breastbone, it affects the upper costochondral junctions and costosternal joints. I found it was really painful to just breath, so I tried not to!! However not really possible. It just went away again after a week or two.
Before being diagnosed with PMR I had rib pain that was so severe I could not take a full breath. It was like a real bad Stitch in the side and back of my rib cage
I have mild rib pain at present, feels a bit like leaning on something or my bra digging in. Not costochonditis but I think it stems from tight back muscles, especiallys the lats.
