After effects of sugar

The day before yesterday, at our usual coffee house, we were given some milk chocolate along with our drinks. Not a huge amount, but I haven't eaten any sugary foods for almost a year. I didn't want to offend the barista who has always been very kind to us and I also wondered what milk chocolate would taste like after so long. Whether or not it was to do with the chocolate, but I felt pretty awful all day yesterday, nauseous, achy, stomach pains, generally run down. Today I'm back to normal, thank goodness. I wonder if anyone else has fallen off the wagon and suffered similarly?

Yes!! Felt totally ill after sharing my husbands birthday cake. However, I have 2 squares of Lindt 90% every night with no effect and that’s a real treat.

Thanks for the reply. I have 2 squares of Lidl's 85% dark choc every night with no effect too! My days of cake, pastries, etc. are sadly over for the time being, and I used to love Magnum ice cream bars......

I have hypoglycemia normally but it is made worse as I decrease the prednisone and have adrenal insufficiency‘s. I pigged out on cherries of all things and had a terrible drop of sugar and I really felt miserable for quite a while. Because I have hypoglycemia I do test my sugar twice a day because my diet has to be high protein high fat low carb.

I suspect some of the miserable feelings with tapering is low blood sugar.
