Hi my husband who is 67 has dropped very slowly thanks to all of you down to 4.5 and was doing great . Pain came back alittle at 4.

He went up to 9mg 4 days ago. Feels better but not great. Does he need to go higher because of the flare ? He does not want to. He wants to drop back to 4.5 after 10 days. HELP. Thank you

So long as symptoms are gone after 10 days he should be okay to drop back down to 4.5mg… not 4mg as that obviously wasn’t enough.

If you can persuade him, might be sensible to step down to say 6mg for 3-4 days initially, then back to 4.5mg….. and then stay there for 3-4 weeks before he restarts taper proper.

I think the rule of thumb is make sure you feel OK before dropping again. He needs to hit the PMR on the head and knock it out.
