Thanks, it's not a new article, and some are probably aware of it, but always good to be reminded and for newbies who may not have seen it before.

On the whole a very useful article - that it wouldn't hurt a lot of doctors to read!

But: "Compared to symptoms of non-inflammatory conditions, symptoms of PMR typically are symmetrical and get better with activity."Bit sweeping - I wish ;) I suppose this is why doctors tell patients to indulge in "normal activities". And muscle tenderness is not a feature? It is if myofascial pain syndrome is allied to the PMR and there is a clinical paper that puts them firmly together.

There are so many of these articles - and most of them fall into the same trap, not understanding or appreciating that PMR is a VERY heterogeneous disorder not only in diagnosis but also in management,

The bit about "diagnostic criteria" isn't correct - they are not general diagnostic criteria, they were intended for use in trying to standarise diagnosis for inclusion in clinical studies to try to minimise having subjects who don't have PMR but something else. The trouble with that is that doctors think if something is different, age for example, it rules PMR out ...
