How to reduce by 10% steps at v low doses

At very low doses cutting tablets becomes an issue. Does anyone grind the tablets and use milligram scales? do most people taper by averaging down even slower instead? Thanks.

Sefu This has been discussed at length before - how low are you talking about? As we have 1mg (in the U.K.) that can be cut into half, there is always liquid Prednisolone but you may find your GP reluctant to prescribe it.

The issue with grinding the tablets down into powder is how can you be sure what dose you are taking, also there are fillers within the tablet along with the active ingredient so again you may or not get the dose you are aiming for.

As MrsNails has advised, if in UK 1mg and 2.5mg tablets are available and can be cut - so long as uncoated...so a bit of mixing and matching does mean than most doses can be met,. .until you get to 1.5mg.

There is one person on the forum who uses fine scales but it really isn't necessary for most people. A combination of cutting plain tablets and the slowed tapering plans, where each step can be repeated as well, is enough - you don't have to have the same dose every day so for example taking 1/2mg less one day in 3 is the same as 1/6mg less per day and was how Ragnar did the first slowed taper approach.

I get 1mg tablets and splice them with my thumb nail. I also have a cutter (from pharmacists) but don’t find it as efficient. I feel that at least my thumb nail is strong and feisty 😂😂

My pill cutter does not always cut exactly in half, but I don't let that bother me. In 22 das I am getting the same dosage as if it were an even cut.
