Lions mane mushroom supplement..again

A few weeks ago I mentioned the above. Having cleared it with my pharmacist I started taking these about three weeks ago. Amongst other benefits they are supposed to help with inflammation, fatigue memory. Over the last few days I have felt better. Less tired and generally more “with it”. I realise it could be a placebo effect but I will persevere and see how things go. Just thought I’d give an update

I am sure the pharmacist would be happy to sell them to you. If you think you feel better even if it is the placebo effect I suppose they are worth it.

My memory is getting worse, perhaps I should try it. My proper nouns just fly away during conversations.

~I have wanted to try this supplement but as it is a fungus I am reluctant due to thrush being an issue @ the drop of a hat.Over & above that I have never tried these before & since my PMR journey my body can react (vomitting) with a new food.

Think my immune system views it as an invader.

Glad it is working for you - good luck ~

It seems to me (a bit of a sceptic) on reading t helps everything.

Then comes at the very end:

Possible side effects

Most people can safely consume shiitake, although some side effects may occur.

In rare cases, people can develop a skin rash from eating or handling raw shiitake (23Trusted Source).

This condition, called shiitake dermatitis, is thought to be caused by lentinan (24Trusted Source).

In addition, using powdered mushroom extract over a long period may cause other side effects, including stomach upset and sensitivity to sunlight (25Trusted Source, 26Trusted Source).

Some also claim that mushrooms’ high purine levels can cause symptoms in people with gout. Nonetheless, research suggests that eating mushrooms is linked to a lower risk of gout (27

Thanks jinasc. I think every Medicine and supplement will list some sort of side effect. The list of side effects with pred are scary. Will see how I get on. So far so good

I agree they can be scary, but because it is an old drug (1950's) all the side effects are known all 82 of them and can be dealt with if when they arise. Oout of that number only 6 or 7 are common.

The 83rd is Treacle Brain or Steroid Brain Fog, which is not listed.

Take care and I hope it works for you.
