I am so confused. I have tapered from 40mgs of Pred when diagnosed with PMR last April to 13.5/12mgs at the moment. Most days are ok, I have been working from home since March last year and am presently off sick after a recent unexpected hospital admission (unrelated) which led to a bit of a flare up of PMR symptoms. I have an interview for another job today and I honestly don't know if my PMR will allow me to do the job! I need to get out of my present job - too much stress and pressure. Part of me feels a new job may give me 'a lift' - but deep down, I wonder if PMR listens to that or has it's own agenda! I am feeling so, so confused. I realise nobody will know the answer, just wanted to share really. Thanks for 'listening'. Obviously, I might not even be offered the job, so the decision could be made for me
New job?: I am so confused. I have tapered from... - PMRGCAuk
New job?
I do have great sympathy for anyone who has to work when they have PMR - I did but I didn't have to commute any further than my bed to my computer and could choose my own hours. I also had the best boss in the world - me But it was still hard - unwrapping myself from the computer chair was a process!
However - 40mg is a very high dose to start with for PMR and after a year you are barely down to where many people aim to be after a couple of months. Is it certain it isn't something else? Or is this due to the stress of the current job?
I hope the job situation works out for the best. I have huge admiration for people who hold down a job with this illness. Please put your health and welfare first as far as you are able. I agree, stress is completely toxic to us.
Well it sounds like it is a good opportunity to get out of a stressful job. I’d say, go for the interview and find out as much as you can. You’re not committing and neither are they, so see it as an information collecting exercise.
Just to update. I was unsuccessful, so decision taken out of my hands. Need a Plan B now 😊
