Knee Satsuma

... and so the knee saga continues. Tried painkillers. No difference whatsoever. I’m now in excruciating pain. So does that mean it’s a PMR withdrawal symptom? Not helped by the fact I cleaned out my mums kitchen cupboards. There’s an ouch with every angle. Can hardly stand up from chairs. The fact that my arms are so weak I can’t pull myself up. A hot mess tonight. Bring on the pizza carbs and wine. Pain = comfort eating. 😋

Hi,

I would be inclined to think it’s something other than PMR - although a slightly higher dose may ease it a little. ...this link gives some suggestions -

~Singr - did I read a post of yours recently that you are doing a slow taper & did I also read you don't have O/A in that knee?

Have your had an CT/or MRI?

Only when I had one did it accurately reveal the various issues as mentioned yesterday in my response to you when I dropped 0.50mg HC.

Reverting to my usual daily dose eventually enabled me to walk with some relative comfort + sleep at night..... sort of ~

I do need knee replacement but my meds is holding it reasonably presently.

As per DL's post rest, icing + elevation will help enormously.

Good luck ~

I've had a scan and they could not see anything. Sent me for Physio and they were scratching their heads. but the bulge on my knee is full of fluid. It's not sore to touch but I can tell the underside of it is pushing on nerves and maybe veins. If I turn my knee to the right I howl with pain. Getting up and down stairs is now a trial. My brother had this same thing and it turned out to be reactive arthritis and they drained the fluid. I'm convinced this is the same thing. I don't think I will be able too wait for 2 weeks. If it's the same I 'll need to call next week.

So many people in Facebook groups talk about knee pain and swelling, especially the younger ones and Baker's cysts crop up regularly. I'd go back to your doctor and ask for investigations

I am in such pain now I need to. Even NSAIDs don't have any effect.

I'd be trying the ED if no-one else will help.

I have had knee pain for over a month and only when I bear weight on it. I’m very overweight. I have CIDP, gca, and my dr recently thinks I have pmr also. I went yesterday for a steroid shot in my knee. He said it will take 2-3 days to feel improvement but it already feels better. Maybe try that?

I would do anything for some pain relief in my knee right now. Considering a hacksaw.

Have you tried ice or heat several times a day? They certainly help me.
