Am I at risk. I am on 5mg prednisolone and have been for just over 20 years. I have PMR and the consultant provides a DEPOSIT every 3 months

This has been corrected in another post - not deposit, but DEPO

What is the condition you are being treated for? Your profile doesn’t say.

The post does! PMR. Though I assume you mean for 20 years?

Ahh! Sorry Dcctrains.

I assume by that you are getting a Depotmedrone intramuscular injection every 3 months?

I suppose it is one way of reducing the oral dose - but however they are administered, corticosteroids lead to adrenal suppression and you are effectively at high enough a dose for that to be a factor, particularly having been on 5mg for 20 years.

Is the 5mg oral pred for another condition? Do you have any other conditions such as high blood pressure or cardiovascular disease, renal problems? Without knowing that it is not possible to say any more.

I have PMR, since 2000. I have slight blood pressure unrelated to why I take steroids and I have had three kidney stones removed again not related to my prednisolone intake

On that basis I'd think you would come under at the very least strict social distancing and maybe shielding - raised BP is considered a risk factor, If you have had PMR since 2000, that suggests you are at least 70 - and over 70 is also a risk factor requiring shielding.

Therefore am I correct in not going to see the consultant for a DEPOmedrone injection and just tough it out?

Toughing PMR out you mean? That's not a good idea either. Allowing a flare to develop all too often results in it being more difficult to get the inflammation and symptoms under control.

I am taking the oral Prednisolone for the PMR. I have had kidney stones in the past and I am taking 8mg per day of perindopril for my slightly raised blood pressure.
