Hi notalot, which abx were you in? There is research on how certain abx help treat RA and other conditions.

Some people have found that illnesses like colds have made their PMR symptoms feel better, as indeed has a stressful event. One members granddaughter had a terrible accident and report her PMR took a back seat. This has also been found in mice or rats. They used certain nanoparticles and were mapping how it broke down certain cell structure and may be useful to sever conditions in the future.

I did have reference articles for this lot of ideas but changed my phone and lot them ...for the moment!

Yes .... Just after Christmas, when I was in a lot of pain but not yet diagnosed with PMR, and not on pred, I had a flu type virus with temp of 39+ for about 4 days, and the pain eased dramatically. This turned into chest infection and I had a course of amoxicillin. When antibiotics finished and high temp subsided, pain returned with a vengeance! The relief from pain began with the high temp and continued while on amoxicillin.

Recently there was another thread on here about people's "normal" temps, and several people seem to be on the low side. When I recovered from the virus /chest infection, I felt very poorly indeed on some days, and thought I might be going down with something again - but found I had a temp of 34.5, and once 34.2 which was a bit scary. My normal now seems to be a about 36.

Quite a few people over the years have made similar comments and I know someone who was put on long term antibiotics and recovered. I find the idea rather concerning though - antibiotic resistance is a problem and there is, as yet, no evidence there is a bacterial component to the inflammation.

Some antibiotics do also have an antiinflammatory side effect.
