Thought this was a bit of positivity - hope it is self fulfilling! Maybe it combines Bee's mask and Brit cups of tea - as that played a role in an earlier story!
"In an inspired Asterix story from 2017, Asterix and Obelix's main rival in a chariot race is a marked Roman driver named Coronavirus. Thankfully the Gaulish heroes defeat their Roman opponent."

I was doing a bit of investigation last night about available supplies of toilet roll on Amazon last night and saw a pack named Corona!
Do you think they've always existed or has some savvy loo roll exec rebranded them to sell more rolls?!!
I did also do a test on getting vitamin supplies yesterday as people had been concerned of stocks in the shop . I can happily say that I could get all my usual brands again from the dreaded A and they were delivered today. My friend actually needed loo rolls and hand sanitizer and she too got her order , again in a day , so all is not lost yet xx
I truly laughed out loud....I found another video with Basil Brush and political commentary on Trump (it was great)...I was going to post it and right at the end there were a few words I didn't think would go with a cuppa~!!💗 I surely would have offended someone...well Basil would have.
My favourite TV celebrity in the 1970's , I remember being absolutely gutted during the power cuts during the strikes because they didn't put the electric back on in time for me to watch Basil Brush , one of my earliest memories.
Well that's a relief. I told my mother i was moving to london to live with the wombles. Sounds cute but i was 18 and i dont think she ever worked out if i was joking or not!! She was drunk at the time!@
Oh , thanks for that mate , there's some things other than Coronavirus that you should keep to yourself , unbearable but catchy tunes being one of them , arghh , get out of my head !!!😋😂😂😂
Oh god yes... I do have Welsh ancestry and a Welsh name supposedly. But I tear up at 2 or three anthems at say the six nations but switch off for gstq. It is the dirge as much as the words. Was it Billy conolly who said it should be the archers theme.
Yep. I’m with you on that. It didn’t help of course that it was enforced on the Scottish Rugby team for many years despite it containing the verse about crushing rebellious Scots! Flower of Scotland maybe isn’t the most brilliant anthem ever but at least it’s not insulting!
I worked in France for a while so I can give the Marseillaise a good shot and I enjoy the Italian one too.
But it's about pride in a beautiful country, not about war or domination. I've heard better versions sounding less martial. Also I always thought God Save the Queen (King) was a royal hymn, not actually, officially, the national anthem of England, which doesn't have a national anthem.
I think that it’s officially the British national anthem and that England doesn’t actually have one of its own but not being English I could be wrong.......
The British National Anthem and the English National Anthem are the same thing ,
" God Save the Queen " it's not just Royal . There are ongoing discussions in Parliament , since 2016 , about choosing a separate English Anthem as all the other member countries of the UK now use their own at official events. 'Jerusalem' among others is part of the short list.
Le Marseillaise makes me think of war, beheadings. The American one is no better with its images of a flag fluttering riddled with bullet holes, and GStQ is about domination of people by a person who rules by divine right. O Canada is about a beautiful land, too, but dreadful lyrics and not great music.
Can't remember which one I heard at the Commonwealth Games but it was about six minutes long , we timed it , no worries about not getting those hands clean using that , more likely to wear your Pred weakened skin away!😋
It was a virtual one , I think they're the only we can all have at the moment. I'm making the most of all my virtual nudges , winks , hugs and kisses xx😋😋😘
Our local library hosts a community tea on Friday mornings and I made a point of going today as things keep getting cancelled (we are being proactive as no known cases locally yet) and a young woman wanted to give me a hug. When I said no she said "air hug" which involves spreading your arms wide but no more. It beats Jazz Hands as a suggested substitute for handshaking!
My OH and daughter went away again for the weekend ( pretty sure these travels to public places are a plot to do me in ) as they left , and at night before bed, we are doing the ' Nudge, Nudge , Wink , Wink' and now we have made itcontact free .
We stand in front of each other doing the double air kiss to the ceiling , nudge elbows out towards the sides ( in a cheeky fashion no touching ) , then two winks .
Then for some reason everyone giggles like school girls but instead of touching our faces we are Oddly grabbing our knees!! Don't know why that became the default setting for keeping our hands off our faces but we seem to be having fun .
All my daughter's friends are adopting it , plus the dancers added in a point of the toes , they have started doing at the OHs school , to be honest it makes a good version of a PMR stretch if you have sat down to long . I might just keep it up for good .
How about the ' Birdie Song ' or would that be more appropriate for Bird Flu?!!
Maybe a risk of cross contamination with all the hand movements and I don't think I'm up to wiggling my bum but I'm having fun picturing you , your OH and you son doing it . Especially if you're choose to do the arm linking dance on the way to get the towel😋😂😂😂
There is no way on this earth you would ever get scats OH to dance or link arms let alone wiggle his bum to any music and if such an event is likely to happen i am camping in her garden to make sure i dont miss it.YBB
Oh! Just went on that site. Did Maggie May (Rod Stewart) and Perfect Day (Lou Reed). Better than a national anthem I think. Pass on my thanks to your son! I’d seen some of these on Twitter but didn’t know where they came from until now...
The song I tried was Farewell to Nova Scotia, aka The Nova Scotia Song, couldn't get it at all, even tried a couple of different singers. But because of its rhythm it would be a great handwashing tune.
I was looking for the little program to give me the timing! But it's quite a catchy tune, will just have to do it for myself.
Btw while talking about timing I recently heard that although we, and many older or frailer people, can't do that high intensity exercise which saves so much time we can get some benefits. When we are out for a walk, walk as fast as we can for four minutes. Then have four minutes walking at normal pace, and do this several times. I shall have to get a stop watch or something because I completely forget about thirty seconds in.... Apparently it doesn't matte how fast or not our own fastest time is, it's the effort which benefits us.
That's good news. I can't walk more than the odd step at the moment. The physio I was given for myopathy was too much for my one remaining hip, which means I'm now waiting to have that replaced as well. With a pandemic I may be waiting some time yet.☹
Well that is more what I had in mind, although maybe there are things you can do for your core muscles.
When I was not able to put weight on a broken leg I used to do isometric exercises. The doctor said that would help me retain some muscle tone. Mind you I didn't have PMR yet.
That's an idea, I have been very static recently I could do with some exercise. I will check to see if there are any I can do, thanks for the suggestion.
With the broken leg I was just tightening the muscles, wiggling my toes, that kind of thing. It didn't seem much but the doctor said it would be worth it.
It was collected by a woman famous in these parts, whom I actually met a few times. She went out and collected songs and stories all over Nova Scotia. At first she transcribed the melodies, often with a friend who was apparently a wizard at doing this, later with a "portable" tape recorder which was moved by wheelbarrow! That would be the recording mentioned in the article you sent. Her home was on the street where we lived until last year, and while she was still there, a very aged lady, she invited us in for tea, and when our first child was born insisted we must come and bring the baby so she could see her. She never married but had an abundance of nieces and nephews, a couple of whom I've met in completely different contexts. Now her former home is a museum.
The wikipedia article about Helen Creighton is quite interesting.
I have just been sent a link to the Helen Creighton Folklore Society FB page where they have that diagram of handwashing to the tune of Farewell to Nova Scotia!!!
I went on the FB page to have a look at it and, small world, you’ve had Mairi Campbell playing there. I saw her in Edinburgh and again in Inverness year before last.
At the bandstand in Harrogate when I was a kid everyone used to stand for the national anthem at the end.... My dad used to be shouting "sit down" at the four of us. It was mortifying but somehow it stuck. 😉
😂🤣😂 He was like the flash when the TV played it last thing...i thought if he didn't get there in time the TV would be out of the window or on to the open fire. So if you were closer you did it fast on a Saturday night. I never heard the second note at home.
As if any of us were still up at home with him we'd all try and sneak out in the credits of the last thing on so he couldn't make us stand up for the queen before going to bed which he did every night. Funny old stick!
