If you have any issues or damage with your eyes from GCA an Ophthamologist should be able to detect it- but if there is no damage to eyes he can’t diagnose GCA per se.
But it’s probably sensible to make an appointment and hear what he has to offer on the subject.
If you have GCA but it hasn’t yet affected the eye arteries and it is in other head arteries instead , it won’t show anything.

Not necessarily at all - it depends on whether the blood supply to the optic nerve has been affected over a period of time.
