Hi everyone, I joined recently as one of the admins of the site. I work for PMRGCAuk and firstly wanted to say hello and to wish you all a happy new year.
This is a fantastic forum where there is so much help and advice from so many of you: from our moderators, ambassadors and volunteers through to our regular members - old and new. Thank you for the contribution you all make.
However, we've seen a few reports of abusive posts/comments so I also want to remind everyone of our community guidelines. No 5 is about being polite in what you post.
Although this is a health forum, it is another form of social media and the words you write are very powerful. There is no body language, eye contact or tone of voice so things can easily be misinterpreted.
Our members may be in pain, feeling vulnerable, alone, depressed and going through things that we are not aware of. So please, before you press post, read through your message just to check it says what you want it to say and that it is polite and kind.
Equally if you receive a reply and the tone is perhaps not the same as you would use, take a moment to reflect on whether that person is trying to help you. In our experience, they generally are. We are all different and remember that they too may be feeling unwell and be dealing with their own issues.
We do of course look at all reports/complaints that are raised and will take action or talk privately to the member in question if required.
This is a valuable resource and for the most part ticks along without any issues whatsoever and we want you all to feel safe and supported on your journey with PMR and/or GCA.
