Have any of you on Lodotra been told to keep them in the fridge?
Lodotra: Have any of you on Lodotra been told to... - PMRGCAuk
Lodotra
Constance, what are you on Lodotra for................is it for your PMR?
Yes - have been for 3 or 4 years. I must admit the PMR is settling down (only seem to have it in shoulders and upper arms - and 'perhaps' in hips). Can't tell whether all the pain is coming from PMR or PA.
I've never kept the Lodotra in the fridge, but this time it was delivered in a 'cool bag' and I was told to keep it in the fridge. I must have missed something somewhere!
Well, mate, your second mate has answered. I hesitated because I could not get a hold of the only other person I know who has tried Lodotra. BTW, it made no difference to her PMR either, but that is just one person..............and it cost a fortune as her GP had to give her a private prescription and the nearest chemist was in Glasgow who would fulfil that private prescription..........do not ask my why.................I never found out.
I did have a letter from the then Secretary of State for Health, in answer to a query I raised with my MP as it was not licensed for use in the UK except for two illnesses.
Wow! How lucky am I then? Never been a problem (so far!?!) getting Lodotra over here - except they will only give 30 tablet packs now, which is most inconvenient as it would mean getting in touch with doctor every two weeks!!
No - and you don't need to unless you live in the tropics with no airconditioning! What idiot thinks it should be? It is to be kept at room temperature below 25C in a dry place. Putting it in the fridge could cause condensation to to form around the tablets and damage the coating.
The excerpt is from the data sheet for Australia - far more likely to need the fridge than Germany and they emphasise keeping it dry, not cool.

"Storage
Keep your tablets in the bottle
until it is time to use them.
If you take the tablets out of the
bottle they may not keep as well.
Keep your tablets in a cool, dry
place where the temperature stays
below 25°C.
Keep the bottle tightly closed to
protect from moisture.
Do not store it or any other
medicine in the bathroom, near a
sink or on a window sill.
Do not leave it in the car.
Heat and damp can destroy some
medicines.
Keep it where children cannot
reach it or see it."

So telling patients to keep it in the fridge is WRONG!!!!!
